It's time for bird watching! The upper reaches of Beijing's Miyun Reservoir welcomed a large number of migratory birds

At present, it is the migratory bird migration season, and the Qingshui River upstream of the Miyun Reservoir welcomes a large number of migratory birds. The beautiful ecological environment formed by the local "water retention" for many years provides a good habitat for migratory birds.

In early winter, the surface of the Qingshui River in the early morning has formed a thin layer of ice. A group of wild white swans land here to roost, sometimes burying their heads to rest, sometimes combing their feathers, and sometimes extending their necks to look around, as if this place has become their paradise.

In the clear water of the river on the other side, a sandpiper is standing leisurely in the riverbed drinking water and foraging for food. After two years of absence, the reappearance of the ibis-billed sandpiper in the Clearwater River has excited photography enthusiasts. Finding a habitat with fresh air and clear water is the instinctive habit of wild water birds, and birds such as black storks and bean geese rest and wait here to play and forage.

In recent years, every migration season, many migratory birds will choose to stop in the major wetlands in Miyun District, especially in the northern area of Miyun Reservoir, where a large number of migratory birds pass by and stay here every year. In order to grasp the activities of birds and wild animals in the region in more detail and accurately, the garden department of Miyun District launched the investigation of the background resources of wild animals, established 11 monitoring stations around the "one reservoir, two rivers and three mountains", actively mobilized social resources to join the monitoring system as volunteers, and strictly implemented the responsibility of ecological environmental protection and territorial management in each town and street, and assigned special personnel to monitor the daily report work and strengthen the inspection of key areas.

The superior geographical location and continuous improvement of the ecological environment in Miyun District provide a high-quality habitat environment for many wild animals, and the people's awareness of environmental protection and bird protection has gradually increased. According to recent statistics, 379 species of birds have been recorded in Miyun District, including 8 species at the national level and 27 species at the beijing level.

According to Cao Jun, a member of the investigation team of the Miyun District Landscaping Bureau, the district has also specially opened up an experimental area to create a wide artificial beach and carry out scientific feeding attempts, supplement the food source of migratory birds, and arrange special personnel to guide bird watchers and advocate civilized bird watching and civilized shooting.
