About 100,000 people are bitten by it every year, and the number of deaths is as high as 20,000. But its body length is less than half a meter. It is the "King of Killing", the Saw Scale Viper, which belongs to the Viper family.

The snakes in this family are not only highly venomous, but also some are not cold to humans, even if they find someone approaching, they do not dodge, and even take the initiative to attack. So which snakes around us belong to the viper family?
<h1 class= "pgc-h-arrow-right" > the Yangtze River short-tailed pit viper</h1>
The Yangtze River short-tailed pit viper, known as the "king of Wounded Man in China", is bitten by nearly 20,000 people every year, accounting for a large part of the total number of people bitten by poisonous snakes in China.
Because of this snake, there are two peak periods of activity in May, June and October. And at the peak of their activities, it is also the time when humans are busy with spring planting and autumn harvest. Therefore, humans are much more likely to be attacked by the Yangtze River short-tailed pit viper than other snakes.
The Yangtze River short-tailed pit viper is also known as the "earth nerd". Because it is not like other snakes, it will run when it meets people, it will only "stay" still.
Although it will not take the initiative to attack humans. But because of its body color, it is difficult for humans to find. There are often incidents of farmers working and being attacked by them for stepping on them by mistake. Fortunately, with the advent of antivenoms that specialize in dealing with snake venom, the mortality rate is not high, only 6.7%.
<h1 class="pgc-h-arrow-right" > bald viper</h1>
The white-headed viper, a rare snake, was listed as a critically endangered species by the Red Book of Endangered Animals of China in 1998. Because the number is relatively rare, human research on its snake venom is not very in-depth.
When treating bites from it, anti-cobra venom is commonly used, but the effect is minimal. Therefore, once bitten by a white-headed viper, the possibility of death is particularly high.
The white-headed viper is also a very hungry snake. Even if you don't eat or drink for half a year, you can maintain a strong body. And it netizens call it "the snake that loves the country the most".
There have been many foreign scholars who have taken a fancy to the study and economic value of the white-headed viper and tried to introduce it to their own countries. However, to the surprise of foreign scholars, the white-headed viper who went abroad became uneaten or drunk, and gradually and slowly died.
<h1 class="pgc-h-arrow-right" > Mangshan soldering iron-headed snake</h1>
Mangshan iron-headed snake, known as the giant panda among snakes. But with the panda being downgraded, its status has surpassed that of the panda. Because of its scarcity and great research value, it has been speculated to 1 million yuan on the black market.
Regarding it, I would like to correct two mistakes for you here. The first is that it is only distributed in the Mangshan Nature Reserve in Hunan. This is not true, in 2007, in Shaoguan, Guangdong, outside of Hunan, a male Mangshan soldering iron-headed snake was found. Subsequently, in the wild, there are also female Mangshan soldering iron-headed snakes.
The second is: the soldering iron head snake, which does not refer to the Mangshan iron head snake. It also does not refer to any subspecies of mangshan soldering iron-headed snake, because mangshan soldering iron-headed snake does not have any subspecies (explaining loneliness). It refers to the original spearhead pit viper, which is the one below.
<h1 class= "pgc-h-arrow-right" > the original spearhead pit viper</h1>
The original spearhead pit viper is one of the six poisonous snakes in Taiwan. Because the head looks like an ancient torture instrument soldering iron, it is named the soldering iron head snake. In addition, it also has common names such as bamboo shoot shell class, turtle shell flower, mouse snake and evil wuzi.
It is a tube tooth, a highly venomous snake. In addition to Taiwan, China is also widely distributed in Zhejiang, Anhui, Fujian, Jiangxi, Hunan, Guangdong, Guangxi and other regions.
The maximum amount of poison released by the original spearhead pit viper is 108 mg, and the lethal amount to humans is 48 mg (dry weight). Scientists once injected 10,000th of a milliliter (dilution) of snake venom into a 10-gram body weight of mice, and the mice died within 2 hours, which shows the fierceness of its toxicity.
It also has a "twin brother", albeit belonging to the family Serpentidae. Called the "tortoiseshell flower", it is a non-venomous snake. Because they look too similar, people often mistake them.
<h1 class= "pgc-h-arrow-right" > barramundi</h1>
The sharp-nosed viper, if bitten by him, is like being kissed by a demon. Because its venom is mainly composed of proteins, hemolytic toxins. This toxin has a more intense hemorrhagic nature, so being bitten by it, and general compression and bandaging cannot stop the bleeding.
Moreover, this toxin can cause extensive bleeding throughout the body, and swelling, blistering, gangrene and ulceration will occur at the site of the bite wound and surrounding tissues. As a result, I was fortunate enough to receive effective treatment. It can also leave indelible scars.
In addition, the viper is very aggressive, and the head can be rotated significantly, with a large amount of detoxification and long poisonous teeth. Therefore, when encountering it in the wild, try to hide as far as you can. According to an investigation data, the people who were bitten by this snake in the Shibi Township area of Chenxi, Hunan Province, were basically dead, and those who were bitten by cobras were basically saved.
It can be seen that its danger is stronger than that of a cobra. Therefore, it also has a very loud title "five-step snake", and it is said that after being bitten, it will die within five steps.
<h1 class= "pgc-h-arrow-right" > round spotted viper</h1>
The round spot viper is also called "wife remarriage snake". Because of its toxin, it can cause acute kidney failure in the bitten person. And even if you get timely treatment, you can save your life. The kidneys of the bitten person will also be affected by their venom, which will affect the future "sexual welfare" life. Fortunately, its distribution in China is not very wide, only distributed in Fujian, Taiwan, Guangdong and Guangxi and other parts.
The round-spotted viper not only has the blood circulation venom that most vipers have, but its snake venom also contains the most terrible neurotoxins.
As a result, of all the venomous snakes in Asia, the round-spotted viper has the highest number of deaths per year. To this end, in its place of origin in Thailand, the local Red Cross Society, in order to be able to effectively treat humans bitten by it, specially developed an antivenom serum against its snake venom.
<h1 class="pgc-h-arrow-right" > bamboo leaf green</h1>
Bamboo leaf green, to the people living in Fujian, a different life experience. Why?
Because it is a very arboreal snake, it is often hung or wrapped around the branches of the tree, and the number of bamboo leaves distributed in Fujian is relatively large. Think about it, walking on the road, suddenly find a green snake hanging overhead, what kind of experience.
Bamboo leaf green is also one of the venomous snakes that bite the most people in Fujian every year. Fortunately, its toxicity is not strong, as long as it is sent to the hospital for treatment in time, there is no danger to life.
<h1 class="pgc-h-arrow-right" > summary</h1>
Venomous snakes of the Viper family are generally lazy by nature, and their body color is generally mimetic. Therefore, in the wild, if you do not pay attention, it is easy to inadvertently provoke them. Moreover, they are fierce in nature and highly poisonous.
According to the survey, the vast majority of all snake bites that occur in China are snakes from the viper family. Therefore, among the ten major families of snakes, the viper family can be called the most dangerous family.
Today I will share with you to this, it is not easy to sort out, I hope you will like and support it! You are also welcome to share this article so that more people can learn about these snakes that live around us. Finally, thank you all for your support.
