On the same day, under the guidance of the General Office of Shenzhen Dapeng New District, the "Whale Fall" Shenzhen-Hong Kong-Macao Ocean Conservation Alliance World Ocean Day event hosted by shenzhen Dapeng New District Coral Conservation Volunteer Federation ("Latent Love Dapeng") and Kaisa International Park was held on the beautiful beach of Dapeng Peninsula, and on May 26, the Hong Kong station event had been successfully held. The June 8 event also launched the early specimen collection of the Oceanographic Museum. At the event site, a specimen of the "Ocean Smiling Angel" porpoise with a body length of about 80 centimeters attracted the attention of the participants, and this specimen will become the first exhibit of the Oceanographic Museum. It is reported that this porpoise cub was found in the Dapeng Sea.
Not only finless porpoises, but in recent years, more and more wild animals have begun to re-energize on the Dapeng Peninsula and the surrounding waters. Wild animals such as ocelots, pig badgers, once considered extinct in the wild, tang fish and endangered exotic carp have begun to reappear in Dapeng New Area, attracting the attention of Dapeng people and even Shenzhen people. The reappearance of these wild animals on the Dapeng Peninsula also reflects the continuous improvement of the ecological environment quality of the Dapeng Peninsula in recent years.
How did this result come about? On December 30, 2011, Dapeng New Area was officially established, following the overall development principle of "protection priority, scientific development, fine management and improvement of level", establishing three major strategies, building five green systems, and establishing the strategic positioning of "three islands and one district". At the event on June 8, Dapeng New Area officially released the country's first "Marine Carbon Sink Accounting Guide", and the Dapeng Peninsula Ecological Civilization Construction Public Welfare Fund launched the marine carbon sink enhancement project. Many key carbon emission enterprises in the new area have expressed their willingness to contribute to the carbon emission reduction and marine carbon sink increase in the new area, and donated the first phase of the marine carbon sink increase project funds to the ecological civilization construction public welfare fund. The funds are mainly used for coral reef planting, mangrove ecological restoration, marine wetland construction, etc.
The industry said that in striving to achieve carbon peaking and carbon neutrality in advance, marine carbon sinks will be one of the necessary means for Shenzhen to promote the work in combination with its own urban resource advantages. Dapeng New Area took the lead in experimenting, focusing on screening out 7 tradable carbon sink types and 11 carbon sink indicators such as mangroves, salt swamps, shellfish and algae, selecting 17 emission factors, clarifying data sources and approaches, building a marine carbon sink accounting system, exploring the marine carbon sink trading mechanism, determining a unified reporting form, forming the country's first scientific, standardized and operable marine carbon sink standard system, with the characteristics of forward-looking application direction, standardized project results + strong operability, and comprehensive project accounting scope. Provide pilot experience for marine carbon sink accounting in Shenzhen and even the whole country.
The Action Plan for Increasing Marine Carbon Sinks is a feasible path and action plan for Dapeng New Area to discuss and explore practical marine carbon sink enhancement pathways and action plans, which is of great significance for Dapeng New Area to achieve carbon peaking and carbon neutrality.
