Liu Yongyao was a first-term student of Huangpu, and the famous Hu Zongnan, Xu Xiangqian, Chen Geng and others were his classmates, and he also had an advantage that ordinary people did not have, that is, he was the youngest of the Huangpu students in that class, when he was only 15 years old.
Don't look at Liu Yongyao's young age, but he did not hesitate to go to the battlefield, served as the captain of the death squad during the Eastern Crusade, when he was only 16 years old, because he was wounded many times in the battle, he also made a lot of military achievements, so Liu Yongyao was promoted to battalion commander. Moreover, he was also recommended to study at Sun Yat-sen University in Moscow, and Zuo Quan was still a classmate, and Liu Yongyao's promotion speed after returning to China was also quite amazing.
However, compared with fighting wars, Liu Yongyao's other ability is more powerful, that is, political propaganda and military school education, so Liu Yongyao has also worked in the military command for a long time, and has been deeply appreciated by Dai Kasa, and has a great reputation in the political training office under the military command system.
After the outbreak of the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression, Liu Yongyao was more like a figure who checked for omissions and filled in the gaps; when there was a shortage of commanders on the front line, he went to the front; when there was a shortage of principals in the rear military academies, he returned to the military school; Liu Yongyao also went to the factory director of the anti-Japanese factory, served as a director in Chiang Kai-shek's attendant room, and also served as a professor at Hunan University, which can be described as an all-round talent.
In 1945, Liu Yongyao was awarded the rank of Lieutenant General in the Army. After retiring from the military in 1951, Liu Yongyao founded the National Defense Series, wrote many books, and served as a professor at National Taiwan University.
Liu Yongyao has always been worried about the friendship of the Whampoa Military Academy, and once joined hands with Whampoa students in Taiwan to launch the "China Whampoa Four Seas One Heart Association". His granddaughter is the later very famous star Liu Ruoying, and Liu Yongyao's happiest thing is that Liu Renying sang him "Whampoa Military Academy Song", every time he heard this song, Liu Yongyao would be emotional and cry with joy.
In her later years, Liu Yongyao had been working hard to improve cross-strait relations, and when Rene Liu often went to the mainland to perform, Liu Yongyao would tell Rene Liu to shoulder the heavy responsibility of cross-strait peace.
On the occasion of his death, Liu Yongyao wrote in his will that he himself lived for 90 years, made great contributions to the country, and bowed to the country all his life, which he was well-deserved. It's just that he still has a lifelong regret, that is, he didn't see the reunification of the motherland's rivers and mountains.
On August 22, 1998, Liu Yongyao died of illness in Taiwan at the age of 89.
