Today, I finally finished reading a million-word tome that I didn't understand or read ten years ago, "The Ordinary World." The first feeling I felt about this tome was shock, emotion and encouragement.
What struck me was that Lu Yao was very familiar with the political system and economic situation of our country in the last century, the customs and culture and development history of Shaanxi Province (northern Shaanxi, Guanzhong and southern Shaanxi), ancient and modern Chinese and foreign literature, and knowledge of different disciplines. The author spends nearly a decade (1975-1985) to describe in detail the entire process of transformation of China's cities and villages under the background of the times, such as the people's commune, the Cultural Revolution, reform and opening up, etc. At the same time, Lu Yao also described the official political life of the last century in great detail, which made me wonder whether Lu Yao really had so many political experiences. In addition, the most striking description, I think, is Sun Shaoping's experience in the Tongcheng Daya Bay Coal Mine. Lu Yao's detailed description of the daily life and underground operation process of the miners in the mining area broadened the horizons of those of us who had never been exposed to coal and could not be exposed to coal. There is also the sincere emotion, straightforward expression, and witty language that appear from time to time in the text. Finally, there are some other subject knowledge during the interspersed period, such as meteorological knowledge describing monsoons and heavy rainstorms, describing the physics knowledge of cosmic astrologers, and describing Chinese medicine knowledge of treating diseases... Whenever I read these contents, they shock me and make me admire. How rich a person must have in life experience, how many fields must he dabble in, how many books he must browse in order to write such an all-encompassing and magnificent history of contemporary Chinese urban and rural social life! Perhaps, this is the difference between ordinary people and writers!
What touched me was that the rural life described in the novel and the life experiences of Sun Shao'an, Sun Shaoping, and Sun Lanxiang's brothers and sisters resonated a lot with me. Although I was born after the reform and opening up and grew up in the mountains of southern Shaanxi, I can still hear the terms landlord, commune, member, and village small that appear in the novel from the mouths of the elders. The tradition of holding a general meeting of members at a village elementary school remains unchanged. Each village has a few "gossip centers" that are bustling and thriving. Going to primary school in the village, junior high school in the commune, high school in the county seat, university and graduate school in the provincial city are the only way for every rural child to go to school. And the characteristics of loving to watch the liveliness and love to play wide are vividly reflected in the people in our village... And so on, there are many more in the novel. It can be seen that some characteristics have been preserved in the peasants for more than half a century or so, and have never been abandoned. Of course, what resonated most with me was the entire life struggle of the three Sun brothers and sisters, because from the three of them, I could more or less find a little shadow of me. I think that I am not the only one who can resonate, but there may also be thousands of rural young people who are struggling. And every time the three brothers and sisters of the Sun family encounter difficulties, there is always an inexplicable lucky force to help them, never abandon the reasonable family; the friendly and friendly neighbor Jin Junhai family; the close and generous brothers and friends Jin Bo; the empathetic and like-minded confidants Tian Runye and Tian Xiaoxia; and many passers-by who meet in Pingshui but are extremely enthusiastic. The appearance of these people not only warmed the lives of the protagonists, but also touched the young readers outside the novel- I. They made me feel that there are not only wind, rain, thunder, thunder, frost, black snow in the world, but also many lovely angels who shield others from the wind and rain and send charcoal in the snow.
What encouraged me was the optimistic attitude and fighting spirit of the protagonists Sun Shaoan and Sun Shaoping in dealing with the misfortunes and sufferings of life. In the face of the hardships and hardships of life and the misfortunes and impermanence of fate, they did not give up on themselves, complained about others, and were not ravaged by life and fate to the point of collapse. On the contrary, the two protagonists dare to face all kinds of misfortunes and sufferings in life, face suffering optimistically and calmly, and even enjoy suffering with an attitude similar to the "A Q spirit", which ultimately makes themselves reborn and grow in misfortune and suffering. Yes, looking at the fate of all the characters in the whole novel, it can be seen that in the long river of life, there is no one-way to the end, there will always be some twists and turns, and we can even regard misfortune and difficulty as a normal state of life, which is by no means a pessimist's cognitive posture, but the sober cognition of an objective rational person. Suffering makes people miserable, makes people grow, and makes people happy. Only those who dare to face suffering, enjoy suffering, and dare to overcome suffering can truly become the masters of their own destiny and get happiness in their ordinary world.
May the years be kind to every unknown person who strives hard! Even if we can't, then we ourselves must dare to face the difficult situation and face the suffering. With bravery as the sword, with the struggle as the sword, always with a bright sword spirit to laugh at everything!
