Ochre apricot ink green, the creation of the HuaJin - the identification of the golden turtle

Ben Bao felt that we could completely ignore this topic, because this is completely the sullenness and arrogance of a liberal arts bully. Well, the biggest significance of this article is that it can improve our sensitivity to the understanding of the turtle, and the significance of sensitivity to each of our turtle friends, I will share with you in the final comment.

The first time I wrote such a troublesome topic, in fact, this topic is written about the rich main color of the turtle and my love for the turtle!

Turtles are not unfamiliar to everyone, and the ancient and simple domestic turtles, they are colorful, so they have also been loved and paid attention to by many people! But sometimes because the turtle has a "chicken turtle subfamily face", it may be dizzy to identify (especially the embarrassing existence of Zhongjin, so this article will focus on Zhongjin). So this full of dry goods was born~

First of all, a rough introduction to the golden turtle, the golden turtle is distributed in the united states and southern Canada, belonging to the chicken turtle subfamily (all of which are like diamond-like Brazilian faces) golden turtle genus, of which the nominate subspecies is the eastern golden turtle, divided into east brocade, west brocade, southern brocade, middle brocade. Like the red-eared turtle, adult males have long fingernails

Note: The distribution map of the turtle can see that the four subspecies of the turtle do not overlap, so the chance of hybridization in the wild is very small

Ochre apricot ink green, the creation of the HuaJin - the identification of the golden turtle

The earliest classification of the turtle was carried out by the German naturalist Johann Gottlob

Cut to the point, now it's the dry goods that the turtle can identify!

First of all, I will introduce the nominate subspecies of the Eastern Golden Turtle, which is sometimes named "American Four Eyes" by fans in the circle because of the four spots on the headprint that are close to round. The Eastern Golden Turtle is actually quite well distinguished from other subspecies, capturing the following characteristics:

Eastern Turtle

The abdominal carapace of the eastern turtle is pure yellow (there may be individual redness), and there is no variegated color on the abdominal carapace, such as black spots, etc. (now there is a hybrid Dongjin on the domestic market, and there will be a small black spot on the east-west hybrid abdominal carapace, and the southeast hybrid has a thick back line like the Southern Brocade, and there are white spots similar to the Eastern Brocade on the head)

Ochre apricot ink green, the creation of the HuaJin - the identification of the golden turtle

The picture above is a typical Dongjin, you can see that there are no spots on the abdominal carapace, and the abdominal carapace is pure yellow

The head stripes of the eastern golden turtle are four nearly circular or oval points separated, and are clearly contrasted with the body color (this point can be distinguished from the southern brocade)

Ochre apricot ink green, the creation of the HuaJin - the identification of the golden turtle

A very typical picture of Dongjin, although it seems that the head of this Dongjin is not very round, it looks like a middle brocade, but if it is compared with the Middle Brocade, the difference is still very obvious (why is it mentioned here? As will be highlighted below), the difference is that its dorsal carapace is obviously parallel to the stripes

The shield of the eastern turtle's back armor has a beige pattern arranged nearly parallel

Ochre apricot ink green, the creation of the HuaJin - the identification of the golden turtle

As you can see from the Dongjin on the right side of the picture, there are patterns on the shield that are close to each other

Next up is Xijin

The characteristics of Xijin are also obvious, and the main difference from other nishiki turtles is the abdomen, the abdomen of Xijin is red or yellow and has a large black or dark green pattern that spreads irregularly from the midline of the abdominal carapace to the edge of the abdominal nail. This red color is generally still very bright until adulthood, which is different from the blur of zhongjin.

Ochre apricot ink green, the creation of the HuaJin - the identification of the golden turtle

Does this bright red give you a strong visual impact?

In addition, the head stripe of Nishiki is uniformly striped, and there are no stripes such as round spots

Ochre apricot ink green, the creation of the HuaJin - the identification of the golden turtle

Obviously, the head stripes of Xijin are all stripes

The shell is usually green (with good hair color), and some western brocade shields will have irregular curves embedded

Ochre apricot ink green, the creation of the HuaJin - the identification of the golden turtle

As in the circle of the picture above, the Western Brocade will have such irregular curved stripes embedded in the shield armor

However, it is undeniable that some western turtles will have a bad hair color, and the pattern of the abdominal nails may become lighter, but this phenomenon is also different from the central turtles, and there are still very large spots on the western brocade carapace with poor hair color

Ochre apricot ink green, the creation of the HuaJin - the identification of the golden turtle

Next up is the Southern Golden Turtle

The southern golden turtle is also very well distinguished

Ochre apricot ink green, the creation of the HuaJin - the identification of the golden turtle

Although there is a line in the middle of the four kinds of turtle back armor, the nanjin is undoubtedly the thickest! The dorsal line of the southern brocade contrasts sharply with the color of its shield armor, and does not become a vassal of the pattern like other turtles.

In addition, the belly armor of Nanjin is also pure yellow, and there is almost no pattern (does not mean that there is no) ~ In addition, some of the southern brocade head pattern will also have points like Dongjin, but compared with Dongjin, some of the point colors of Nanjin are basically the same as the body color, the contrast is not strong, and the points of Nanjin will be more irregular (it may also be directly connected)

Finally, there is our big BOSS, the middle brocade of the existence of the anti-heavenly existence

Some sources say that the middle turtle is the most difficult to describe, which seems to me to be true, because the central turtle contains many characteristics of other subspecies of the turtle. For example, the head pattern of The Middle Brocade is like the East Brocade, and the Head Pattern of the Middle Brocade is a disconnected line, but it is not directly a line like the Western Brocade; and the first pair of head lines of the Middle Brocade extends behind the eyes. The middle brocade back armor is also very similar to the east brocade, and the abdomen is like the southern brocade... Therefore, for Zhongjin, I have never known how to describe it to the officials with poor expression ability, so this post is only written now.

The most core intuitive difference between Zhongjin and other subspecies is the abdomen, rough look at the abdomen of Zhongjin and Dongjin, Nanjin is very similar, but there is a very obvious black spot in the abdominal carapace of Zhongjin, and unlike the black spot of Xijin, the black spot of Zhongjin is relatively light and the extension range is small, and it is generally symmetrical.

In addition, although the overall appearance of Zhongjin resembles Dongjin, unlike Dongjin, the shield armor of Zhongjin is arranged like a normal turtle, with only a few remnants of parallel patterns like Dongjin (mostly red). Therefore, according to this point, it can be distinguished from those hybrid dongjin with small black spots on the abdominal carapace.

(The last picture is from the poisonous snake strangled by the Turtle Friends Association) This is a picture of two adult central turtles, you can see that the abdominal carapace has a faint black patch, and the symmetrical and dark spots are basically located in the area below the throat shield of the abdominal carapace, and will not extend to the dendritic branches of the abdominal carapace (this is a personal observation, if there is an error, you are welcome to point it out)

The following are all the anti-heavenly appearance of the central turtle, yes to you, I did not find the wrong picture (laughs)

Ochre apricot ink green, the creation of the HuaJin - the identification of the golden turtle

It can be seen that this middle brocade has a head pattern that is very similar to that of the east brocade, but it can be seen from its shield that its back armor does not have a parallel pattern like the east brocade, but there is a remnant of the parallel pattern (the shield is not distributed in parallel)

Ochre apricot ink green, the creation of the HuaJin - the identification of the golden turtle

Is this middle brocade god-like West brocade? However, on closer inspection, its abdominal carapace is not a large red color like Xijin; and its dorsal carapace has parallel striations similar to those of Dongjin (shields are not distributed in parallel).

In addition, most of the back of the brocade will not have any large-scale other curved patterns like the western brocade back, except for the thin line in the middle and the remnants of the parallel pattern. Even if there is, there are a small number of short straight lines such as the one in the figure above

Ochre apricot ink green, the creation of the HuaJin - the identification of the golden turtle

This middle brocade also has four white spots similar to the same as the east brocade, but it is obvious that the head of this middle brocade is linear but the line is not as consistent from the front of the head to the neck like the western brocade, which is also a very obvious feature of the middle brocade

Ochre apricot ink green, the creation of the HuaJin - the identification of the golden turtle

The same is also the middle brocade, although this one looks very much like the western brocade, but like the one in the picture above, the head stripe of this middle brocade is not as coherent as the western brocade

Ochre apricot ink green, the creation of the HuaJin - the identification of the golden turtle

It's still in the middle of the gold

Origin of Zhongjin:

Ochre apricot ink green, the creation of the HuaJin - the identification of the golden turtle
Ochre apricot ink green, the creation of the HuaJin - the identification of the golden turtle

Here's a summary of the characteristics of Zhongjin:

1. The whole of the middle brocade resembles the east brocade, but its shield armor is unevenly distributed like an ordinary turtle, not parallel like the eastern brocade, but the middle brocade has residual parallel patterns

2. The head stripes are linear and disconnected, not as coherent as in the western and southern brocades, and the first pair of head lines extend to the back of the eyes (the east brocade also has head lines extending to the back of the eyes)

3. The black spots of the abdominal nail are blurred, generally symmetrically distributed, and the dark spots are basically located in the area below the throat shield of the abdominal nails and do not extend to the edge of the gap (thickened font This point is a personal observation, if there is a non-conformity, welcome to point out ~)

Why is Zhongjin's appearance so anti-heavenly? Could it be a hybrid turtle? In fact, the central turtle is a transitional species, which means that the central turtle is a purebred turtle. One theory is that in North America, the first appearance of the eastern turtle, the eastern turtle in the west, by the influence of the local geographical environment, the first evolution of the central turtle, in the process of spreading to the southwest and west, affected by the environment and gradually evolved the current South Brocade and West Brocade respectively. Therefore, there is a kind of anti-heavenly appearance characteristics of zhongjin today.

Let's also talk about miscellaneous things. Since they are hybrids, they have the common characteristics of both.

In addition to the case of a small black spot in the abdominal carapace mentioned earlier, that is, the following,

Ochre apricot ink green, the creation of the HuaJin - the identification of the golden turtle

There is also a larger range, the pattern is more like the western brocade, but the pattern is not extended from the midline of the abdominal nail to the edge of the abdominal nail like the western brocade, but a form similar to the middle brocade. However, unlike the middle brocade, the pattern of this kind of miscellaneous abdominal carapace is mostly black composed of black lines (like the western brocade), while the middle brocade is solid black, and the black spots are located below the throat shield of the abdominal nail.

Ochre apricot ink green, the creation of the HuaJin - the identification of the golden turtle

As shown above, the characteristics of the Nishiki belly carapace (from the turtle friend Lailaiup) can be clearly seen (in addition, the east-west miscellaneous markings can be seen clearly, and there are also dark spots in the area above the throat shield, and at the same time, there are dendritic black spots extending at the edge of the carapace)

Ochre apricot ink green, the creation of the HuaJin - the identification of the golden turtle
Ochre apricot ink green, the creation of the HuaJin - the identification of the golden turtle

The above two pictures are the seedlings of the central turtle, you can see that the belly carapace of the central turtle is beige, similar to the east brocade ~ and we can also compare the abdominal nail spots with the things in the above picture, it can be clearly seen that the flower spots of the central turtle are solid black and will not extend into the carapace to form a dendritic pattern like a branch

Because things are hybrids, so its form of expression can be ever-changing ~ above I just wrote the characteristics of the vast majority of things and miscellaneous, but it is difficult to guarantee whether there is any omission, if there is an omission, I hope you can selflessly point out ~

Another point that has to be explained is that in the face of turtles like the golden turtle, to distinguish their subspecies must be distinguished by combining all the characteristics! Otherwise, it is easy to misjudge

So raising turtles is an interesting thing, in the process of continuous learning, you can learn a lot of interesting knowledge, recognize many like-minded turtle friends. Although there are laughs and tears in the process of raising turtles, I hope that what I will eventually bring to the player is happiness!

Comments from Turtle:

Thank you Rolls-Royce for your wonderful sharing,

Some friends may ask me:

I'm just a regular player now.

What is the role of understanding the identification of subspecies of the golden turtle?

Of course it's very useful.

Historian Yuval. Harari has this to say in his new book, A Brief History of the Future:

In our time, knowledge = experience× sensitivity,

And knowledge, in turn, can increase sensitivity,

And so that we can have a more adequate experience.

For example, in the eyes of a person who does not know anything about turtles,

There seems to be no difference between a Brazilian turtle and a three-line closed-shell turtle.

Calling the Brazilian turtle a money turtle doesn't seem to be anything wrong,

However, for a turtle friend who has a little common sense,

The Brazilian turtle and the money turtle must be two very different things,

This is where our knowledge in the field of turtles increases our sensitivity.

So if you want to have a better experience in the process of raising turtles yourself,

You should find a way to try to improve your sensitivity,

How to improve it? Of course, read more and share our articles!
