The Aldabra tortoise is a conservation animal in CITESII (Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora). The breeding of the Aldabra tortoise in Chimelong is the first successful breeding of this species in the non-tropical regions of Chinese mainland.
