As the world's second largest tortoise, the Aldabra tortoise is the "Big Mac" among the turtles, they have thick limbs, huge size, and a gentle personality, but it is not so easy to get these big guys to obediently cooperate with the physical examination.
Front and back leg circumference, waist circumference, dorsal carapace length, etc. are the basic information of the physical examination, all of which have to rely on manual measurements, which can keep the animal doctor sweaty and chase the big guys around the field.
Under the temptation of food, it was difficult to guide the tortoise on the scale, and sure enough, it was full of tonnage, the female Aldabra tortoise weighed 96.6 kg, while the male weighed 106 kg.

It took nearly half an hour, and the physical examination was finally completed. After measurement, the length of the back carapace of the Aldabra tortoise is 105 cm, the waist circumference is 174 cm, the front leg circumference is 34 cm, and the back leg circumference is 30 cm.
Zhao Cheng, animal doctor of Yunnan Wildlife Park, said: "Diet and activity are basically normal, and if you defecate, it belongs to the form, and the feces just collected are mainly for parasite examination, which will be brought to our veterinary hospital." ”
Although it has been nearly two months since I came to Kunming, the two Aldabra tortoises have not yet been named. To this end, the staff specially prepared a name plate on the spot, and the tourists immediately brainstormed and wrote down the good names in their hearts: Kunkun, Mingming, Dazhuang, Da Fat, Xiaoming, Xiaogang, Donghai, Nanshan.
