On December 18, the surging news reporter learned from Chongming District of Shanghai that in August 2020, Shanghai Runqiu Agricultural Products Processing and Distribution Co., Ltd. obtained the certificate of breeding pufferfish processing enterprise, which is also the first enterprise in Shanghai to obtain this qualification. The puffer fish farm is located in Xianghua Town, Chongming District.

In Shanghai Runyu Agricultural Products Processing and Distribution Co., Ltd., the dark-striped Oriental Pufferfish in the pool is rounded, the rear part gradually becomes thinner, and there is a black circle on each of the two pectoral fins and tail fins, playing in the water. These dark-striped oriental pufferfish weigh between 6 taels and 1 pound.
In the workshop, the staff is skillfully processing the dark-striped oriental pufferfish, they use scissors to throw the fish belly away, remove the gills, internal organs and other toxic parts, followed by professional cleaning, the cleaning process squeezes the fish body hard, remove the residual blood and mucous membranes. The staff working with the dark-striped oriental pufferfish must undergo rapid testing training in chloramphenicol, malachite green and nitrofuran metabolites in aquatic products before they can be put on the job.
Gu Jianpei, general manager of Shanghai Runyu Agricultural Products Processing and Distribution Co., Ltd. and chairman of Shanghai Fengyu Aquaculture Professional Cooperative, introduced that the puffer fish that was previously processed in Jiangsu began to be processed in Chongming from around October 8, 2020. Employees should be trained well, so that they know this fish, called dark oriental pufferfish, and know where its toxic parts are, such as its lungs, its blood, its eyes, so we have to "go three times" - to poison, to the eyes, to the dirty.
In the packaging workshop, Gu Jianpei vacuum packs the processed dark-grained oriental pufferfish. He told reporters that these packaged dark-striped oriental pufferfish have a specification of 1.5-6 kilograms, generally 3 packs, 6 packs and 10 packs, which can be stored for 5 days at 0-4 °C refrigeration, and can be stored for 180 days at -18 °C. At present, it is mainly sold to the puffer fish store on Jiangyang North Road in Shanghai, followed by Beijing, Jiangsu and other places, with daily sales of about 800 pounds.
Gu Jianpei said that after more than 20 years of continuous improvement of breeding technology, the toxins contained in the cultivated dark oriental pufferfish are far below the risk value, and it can be safe to eat. But they are the most afraid of the cold, the water temperature must be higher than 12 ° C, so every year from November to April, they must be raised in greenhouses to help them "overwinter".

In the future, Gu Jianpei will work with professional institutions to jointly develop the deep processing technology of dark-striped oriental pufferfish, increase the added value of dark-striped oriental pufferfish, and refine the collagen in the fish skin and toxins in the blood to improve its economic value. In the next step, Gu Jianpei will also factory breeding, and then do deep processing, make the skin of puffer fish into essential oil, and then open several restaurants, so that the people can also eat chongming farmed puffer fish.
