Former residence of Jiang Shoushan
The former residence of Jiang Shoushan, a "rich man's old house" that is under the eyes of tourists in Laomendong, but is still unknown.
Jiang Shoushan, also known as Jiang Shiquan, was a wealthy merchant in Nanjing in the late Qing Dynasty. Legend has it that he made his fortune by driving donkeys, known as Jiang Donkey.
He has a number of real estate in Nanjing, and now knows three: one is located at the entrance of Taiping Lane, which is now the new building of Taiping Mall. The original houses are three roads and four entrances, with entrance halls, halls, back houses, gardens, etc., the beams and columns of the hall are thick, and the carvings of bucket arch cornices are exquisite and delicate. The three-way courtyard has a door to communicate. Later, due to the construction of the shopping mall, the building component number was demolished for future reconstruction. One is at 49 Scissors Lane, which no longer exists. There is also a Sanjo camp in the south of the city, east of the old gate.
The most representative of the three former residences of Jiang Shoushan is No. 18 and No. 20 of Sanjo Camp in the east of the south gate of the city. This is a typical courtyard complex of Nanjing residences. The most common Nanjing dwellings are three to five; Between each of the two entrances is a courtyard or a patio, and some sides also have box rooms, and the large family can reach seven or eight entrances. Jiang Shoushan's former residence has a total of two roads and seven entrances, sitting north and facing south, covering an area of 4500 square meters.
The layout is in order of entrance hall, car hall, hall and main room, with four entrances. The lower part of the street house is about 1.5 meters made of blue strip stone masonry, and the appearance is dignified and solid. The outer wall of the entrance hall has a bolt horse stone, and the gable has a tall fire sealing wall, which not only closes the end beam frame purlin, but also plays a fireproof role, and is also a prominent symbol of the house. The overall architecture gives the impression of a deep mansion compound. The building courtyard here is complete and the structure is not damaged, which is a well-preserved part of the Nanjing late Qing Dynasty building complex. Now it is a cultural relics protection unit in Jiangsu Province.

Former residence of Cheng Xianjia
Originally, few people knew about Hundred Flowers Lane, so there must be only a fewer people who heard about the process first.
Big Hundred Flowers Lane, Little Hundred Flowers Lane, the best alley name in Nanjing. Legend has it that there was a royal palace in the alley of the Ming Dynasty, two bridesmaids named "Big Hundred Flowers" and "Little Hundred Flowers", after the Manchu Qing invaded Nanjing, the Big Hundred Flowers and the Little Hundred Flowers sisters successively threw themselves into the well. This alley has also been popular for hundreds of years.
Cheng Xianjia's former residence is located at No. 11, Dabaihua Lane, Zhonghua Gate West, the former residence house is seven deep, of which the axis is vertical to the streets and alleys, at a glance, showing a simple and elegant landscape of late Qing Dynasty residential buildings.
Cheng Xianjia (1872-1932), the character Ding Cheng, also known as Yi Chuan, was a native of Jiangning. Because he lives in Dabaihua Lane, his pen name gladly calls himself "Hundred Flowers Fairy".
In the seventeenth year of Guangxu (1891), he passed the township examination and was lifted up. In the twenty-ninth year of Guangxu (1903), the whole country opened a special section of economics, a total of 27 people were selected, and he was selected for his talents and knowledge. At the end of the Qing Dynasty, he served as a professor at Jiangnan Higher School and as the premier (i.e., president) of the Jianzi Academy. He studied the study of exhortation and phonology. In the late Qing Dynasty script reform movement, especially in the field of Hanyu Pinyin, he was a pioneer in the south of China. After the Republic of China, he worked in Suzhou, Long, Mongolia, Hubei and other places, and still followed them with books and manuscripts.
During the unification year, Cheng Xianjia purchased No. 11 Baihua Lane as a private residence. The first entrance of the year was the entrance hall, flanked by the parking of the caravan and the resting place of the car. The second entrance is the hall, and the pane is engraved with "Twenty-four Filial Piety Figures", which can still be faintly recognized today.
Nowadays, although the seven-entry house has been filled with residents in the south of the city, from the frame structure of the house, the remaining stone drums and stripes in the courtyard, and the rich local dialect among the residents, it can still reflect a style painting of the late Qing dynasty houses in jinling ancient city. People from afar are in it, and it seems even more ancient.

Wang Boxun Zhou Fagao Memorial Hall
No one would have imagined that the earth-yellow building huddled at the junction of The Border Camp and Tiger's Head was the former home of an old professor at Southeast University.
To be precise, it was the residence of the old professor and his son-in-law.
Wang Boxun (王伯沆), also known as Bo Qian (瀣), was a famous master of traditional Chinese studies from the late Qing Dynasty to the Republic of China. He has taught at Liangjiang Normal School, Nanjing Higher Normal School, Jinling Women's University, central university (renamed Nanjing University in 1949) and other colleges.
Mr. Wang Boxun entered the Republic of China from the end of the Qing Dynasty, and served as the tutor of The Lingnan scholar Chen Yinke and Kunzhong, and had contacts with famous scholars and celebrities at that time. Born in Nanjing in 1871. Young and intelligent, he studied in Duanmucai and Gao Zi'an. Later, he entered Zhongshan Academy and studied under Wen Tingshi, Chen Sanli, Yu Mingzhen and others, who were known for their talents and erudition.
Located at No. 98, Bianying, east of Zhonghua Gate in Nanjing, The Former Residence of Wang Boxun was built in the light years of the Qing Dynasty, with a history of more than 100 years, and is a typical Jiangnan chuantang-style three-entry courtyard.

Fool's Garden
Yuyuan garden is located in The West of Laomen, Qinhuai District, Nanjing, located in the Confucius Temple Qinhuai Scenery Belt, in front of Jiqingmen Mingyang Street, houyi Hualugang, also known as Hujia Garden, is a famous Jiangnan garden in the late Qing Dynasty, known as "Jinling Lion Park".
The history of Yuyuan can be traced back to the other business of Xu Fu, a descendant of Xu Da, the king of The Ming Dynasty, and has a history of more than 600 years, and has changed hands several times. In the second year of the Qing Dynasty, Hu Enxie, in order to serve his adoptive mother, resigned his official post and built a garden, and named it Yu Yuan, which not only showed that he did not return to the hidden "self-delusion, but also called yu yuan", "with the name of a fool, happy landscape and obscure himself to yuye", but also implied the meaning of "great cleverness is like clumsiness, great wisdom is like foolishness".
In May 2016, after five years of renovation, Yuyuan Garden was officially opened to the public. In the process of restoration, adhering to the concept of comprehensive protection and original protection, the hand-drawn "Yu Garden" in the "Jiangnan Garden Chronicle" written by the famous architect Professor Tong Liao is used as the model, maintaining the original structural layout, historical style and spatial scale of the hospital. The flower walls, rockeries and other places in the park are rebuilt in strict accordance with historical photos, and the historical style of Yuyuan garden is restored with all efforts.

Mustard garden
The Hu Family Garden is famous, and the Mustard Garden may not know much. In fact, the mustard garden is also a representative of the well-known Jinling private garden, its owner is the Qing Dynasty "player" Li Yu, and the widely circulated compulsory textbook of Chinese painting "Mustard Garden Painting Spectrum" was born here.
Mustard Garden is the residence of the famous scholar Li Yu in the early Qing Dynasty. Li Yu moved to Jinling, first living near the Jinling Gate, and later building the mustard garden before the Seventh Year of the Kangxi Dynasty. Although the mustard garden is less than three acres, it has been painstakingly managed by Li Yu to achieve the artistic conception of "heaven and earth in the pot".
The historical mustard garden is a private garden garden personally created by Li Yu in Nanjing, and it is also the place where he lived the longest in his life. It is regrettable that this generation of famous gardens later changed owners several times, ransacked repeatedly, and finally disappeared, and by the early days of the Republic of China, it was already a vegetable garden.
