3388 kilometers, is the distance between Zhoushan in Zhejiang And Nangqian in Qinghai. One is on the eastern coast and the other is on the western plateau, but because of a move by teachers and students of Zhejiang Ocean University, the two are linked.

"This is called a turtle, it is the oldest and largest reptile in existence, because the back armor is reddish brown, also called the red sea turtle, the number of existing turtles is relatively small, this is only donated to our school after the customs seized."

"It's called gorgonian coral, and it looks like a plant, but it's actually an animal."

"This is the Lu's hammerhead shark, a kind of shark, different from the big shark that everyone imagines, this is a juvenile shark, it is illegally caught."

…………

On the afternoon of July 22, at the Second Complete Primary School in Nangqian County, four college student volunteers from Zhejiang Ocean University were giving students a marine science lesson. What interested the students was the hundreds of marine life specimens that had been "packed" from thousands of kilometers away.

Volunteer Xie Yulong introduced that these specimens were carefully prepared by Zhejiang Ocean University for primary school students in Nangqian County, and consisted of four major categories, including crustaceans, fish, shellfish, echinoderms and other major categories, including specimens of many national second-level protected animals such as "Lu's hammerhead shark", "cockroach turtle" and "tabby baby". In addition, they also specially exhibited specimens of the traditional "Four Sea Products" of the East China Sea composed of squid, large yellow croaker, small yellow croaker, and striped fish.

Almost every specimen embodies the painstaking efforts of teachers and students of Zhejiang Ocean University. "Like this time we brought over more than 10 kinds of crab specimens, the children especially like, these are we use tweezers to pull out the crab meat inside a little bit, and then glue the shell, almost intact, this process alone, a specimen will take more than 3 hours." Xie Yulong said that each specimen was carefully selected by the Museum of Marine Biology of Zhejiang Ocean University, and the school specially organized a team to go to Nangqian to display these specimens and build a small marine science museum on campus.

At present, this marine science museum has received more than 1,700 students to visit. Ojin Quji, principal of nangqian County No. 2 Complete Primary School, said: "Most of the children here have never seen the ocean, let alone been exposed to marine life, and these markers allow them to understand the ocean in an immersive way and stimulate their interest in exploring the mysteries of the ocean." ”

Xu Shiyuan, vice president of Zhejiang Ocean University, went to Nangqian to guide the installation of the Marine Science Popularization Museum. He said that the construction of the marine science popularization museum in Nangqian is an important part of the school's "Seychelles Plan". The plan is a public welfare project led by the Red Cross Society of Zhejiang Ocean University that integrates marine science popularization, donation and medical treatment, and has been organized and implemented for 5 years since 2016, so that children on the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau can see the sea, understand the sea, and improve marine awareness is the main work of the "Seamount Plan".

During the summer vacation this year, 10 main members of the "Seamount Plan" of Zhejiang Ocean University rushed to the Second Complete Primary School in Nangqian County, in addition to the construction of the Marine Science Popularization Hall, marine science popularization education, marine characteristic paper-cutting teaching, emergency rescue training, English classes for international students and other related activities have been carried out.
