Autumn symbolizes maturity. Nearly halfway this fall, the ring-necked plover chicks have matured, and moms and dads can finally breathe a sigh of relief.
In the spring and summer, the bare and rough sand and gravel fields of the river beach often hide the nests and young chicks of the ring-necked plover. This small waterbird is slender and weak, and the adult bird is no more than 15 cm tall, and it faces more threats than other birds during the incubation period and the early stages of the hatching of the chicks. Birds of prey in the air, foxes, weasels, and even rats on the ground can easily turn them into a full meal, and careless or curious humans are likely to inadvertently harm their lives.
Ring-necked plovers may not be able to protect their children even if they fight hard, so they find another way. When the intruder appears, the ring-necked plover will pretend to fold one wing, lie on the ground and slowly flap the other, screaming at you in grief as if to say, "Eat me, I can be easily eaten." "When the intruder's attention is attracted, they maintain a disabled posture and take the intruder away from the nest until the nest or the young bird is out of danger, and then immediately returns to normal and escapes with good hands."
If the intruder is not deceived, the ring-necked plover has a back-to-back move. It ran in a panic to a place that looked like a pile of broken shells, nervously leaning over to protect the nest. The intruders rushed over with the excitement of "one net", and finally the bamboo basket was empty.
In order to bring a good baby, the ring-necked plover relatives have trained their acting skills one by one. However, for the spouse, they will not be so careful, although the breeding period also pays attention to "monogamy", but if there are many "beautiful women" around, the necked plover father may "abandon his wife and abandon his son" and find a new love when there are many "men" around; and when there are many "men" around, the ring-necked plover mother also kicks away her husband and baby after hatching the chicks, looking for new love.
Family affection and love, in the end, are not the same.

Ring-necked Plover, a small wader of the Plover family. Commonly known as the "white-collared plover", the breeding male has white forehead and eyebrow lines, black spots on the front of the head, a white collar on the back of the neck, gray-brown for the rest of the upper body, white on the sides of the waist, and a black-brown tail; the female lacks black, and the male's black part is replaced by grayish brown or brown. Non-breeding males and females are as dull as males and females, with a head that lacks black and brown, and a patch on the side of the chest that becomes lighter and smaller.
The living environment is mostly related to wetlands, which are inseparable from water, inhabiting wetlands such as seashores, islands, river beaches, lakes, ponds, swamps, paddy fields, and salt lakes. Migratory birds, with great flight ability, usually migrate along coastlines and rivers.
