The reporter learned that the voting activity was jointly initiated by the Yunnan Forestry and Grassland Bureau, the Yunnan Green Environment Development Foundation, and the Kunming Zoo, and was an innovative practice of wild animal science publicity and education jointly organized by government departments and public welfare organizations. The event was officially launched on July 31, 2021 and ended on September 10, 2021, with a total of 9,727 netizens from 32 provinces, cities and regions across the country and overseas participating in the voting, selecting their favorite wild animals from 40 species of wild animals in 4 categories of the most representative mammals, birds, amphibians and reptiles and insects in Yunnan and participating in the lottery.
According to statistics, the total number of views of this online voting reached 32,701 person-times, and the display form of pictures and texts allowed the public to know and understand a lot of Wild Animals in Yunnan while voting, which played a better role in popularizing science. There are four major awards in the event: Koi Award, Popularity Award, Lucky Prize and Participation Award, with a total of 80 winning places. Among them, 1 koi prize is 10,000 yuan, 4 popularity awards are 1,000 yuan, 25 lucky prizes are blind box gift packages worth 1,000 yuan, and 50 prizes worth 300 yuan are scenic spot tickets worth 300 yuan, and the total value of the prizes is 54,000 yuan.

The top 10 species in terms of total votes are the green peacock, the Yunnan golden snub-nosed monkey, the Yunnan closed-shell turtle, the three-tailed brown phoenix butterfly, the orchid praying mantis, the red panda, the concave tortoise, the Asian elephant, the Dianye and the round-nosed monitor lizard.
