Repeated abdominal pain for more than a year, a check is actually a parasite in the body?

author:Great River Health News

Mr. Li (pseudonym), 47 years old, had repeated abdominal pain for 1 year, and the pain was unbearable during the attack, and the oral acid-suppressing and antispasmodic drugs were not effective. The abdominal pain recurred, and Mr. Li came to the Third Affiliated Hospital of Xinxiang Medical College for colonoscopy.

Repeated abdominal pain for more than a year, a check is actually a parasite in the body?

Under the colonoscopy, Mr. Li's intestinal mucosa is smooth and soft, but there are long strips of mucus-like things, which will move when carefully observed, and the doctor judges that it is a living parasite.

There are many types of parasites that can parasitize in the human intestine, such as whipworms, roundworms, pinworms, etc., and the symptoms caused by different types of parasites are not the same, common symptoms such as abdominal pain, diarrhea, bloating, nausea, and even systemic symptoms in severe cases.

Upon further examination, it was found that the parasite in Mr. Li's body was a tiny membranous tapeworm. Adults of this parasite are mainly parasitic in rodents, but can also parasitize the human small intestine, causing micromembranous taeniasis, causing gastrointestinal and neurological symptoms such as nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, diarrhea and headache, irritability and insomnia and even convulsions.

Infection with this parasite is mainly caused by accidental ingestion of eggs or intermediate host insects containing cysticercosis, while autologous repetitive infection can cause intractable parasitism. Mr. Li works outside the home, eats in an unhygienic environment, and he also has a dog, which can lead to infection.

Living standards and medical standards continue to improve, parasites have become more and more distant from us, but occasionally there will still be some people "recruited", therefore, we must pay attention to personal hygiene, dietary hygiene and environmental hygiene in life.
