First, entrepreneurship ignites the dream of raising rabbits in childhood
Born in 1986 in Huining County, Gansu Province, Ma Zongding graduated from high school in 2005 and entered the Changxing Base of Shanghai Zhenhua Heavy Industry (then called Zhenhua Port Machinery), a subsidiary of CCCC, through social recruitment to engage in cold work assembly work, and then transferred to safety administrator, and has participated in the British wind power project (in addition to the conventional shore bridge), the San Francisco New Bay Bridge and the safety management of the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge under construction today. Later, his grandfather drove a crane fairy tour, and because he was worried about his grandmother and his children's schooling, he resigned in early 2013 and returned to his hometown in Huining. After half a year at home, he went to Dunhuang, Gansu with his cousin to participate in the construction of the main venue of the Cultural Fair and was responsible for safety work, and successfully applied for the project department of the Dunhuang International Cultural Forum of Fujian Xihang Longxing Tianxia to do safety management work, contributing to the successful holding of the first Cultural Fair. Although the above work has been carried out smoothly, the income is not cheap, and the achievements are also outstanding, but these do not seem to belong to his favorite. Because in his heart, he often burned his childhood dream--- raise rabbits.
Ma Zongding loves rabbits. I remember raising rabbits in my own home since I was a child, when there were nearly a hundred at most, and they were successively distributed to their neighbors and raised, so that the whole village could eat the fragrant rabbit meat, which was tender and delicious, and let him taste endlessly. In his mind, the rabbit is lively and cute, does not cost food, and pulling some weeds on the way home from school can solve the rations of several rabbits. Raising rabbits has always been his wish.
In early 2016, he quit his previous job and embarked on a project expedition with his cousin, nicknamed Brother Black. They set off from Lanzhou, passing through some places in Shaanxi, Henan, Hebei, Shandong and other provinces, and finally Heige implemented the paper and fire processing and wholesale business, and he insisted on starting his own business and chose to raise rabbits.
Second, start from the blind introduction of "hybrid hares"
In the process of inspecting the project, the provinces of Shaanxi, Henan, Hebei and Shandong are all areas with more developed rabbit breeding. Although he has a keen interest in raising rabbits. But what breeds to raise? How to raise rabbits? Always unsure.
In the midst of this confusion, he became interested in an advertisement for breeding hybrid hares to get rich, so he went straight to a company in Jining, Shandong. The farmer pointed to the gray rabbit raised in the cage and said, this is a hybrid hare, sign a recycling contract, package technology, how much can be bred per year, how much is sold, how much is profitable, and so on. He was overwhelmed by this gushing narrative and the great incendiary preaching! Without careful examination, 200 were hastily ordered (40 male rabbits and 160 female rabbits) and immediately paid for the goods. On March 15, 2015 (the 25th day of the first month), the car rental car took about 30 hours to reach his home in Huining, Gansu Province, on the highway from Jiaxiang County, Shandong Province, through Henan, Shaanxi and Ningxia. Due to inadequate preparation, the rabbits were pulled home without a rabbit farm, rabbit house and cages. Gathered the neighbors to help overnight, and tied up ten sets of rabbit cages in four days and four nights. A month later, the rabbits were put into the built rabbit farm.
I thought that the introduction was a "hybrid hare", but after a look, it is purely a domestic rabbit, which is the Flemish giant rabbit introduced from abroad in the early years of our country (most people in China mistakenly call it a Belgian rabbit). Third, the difficult road of "rabbit breeding"
Ma Zongding has always had such a concept: modern breeding industry, the animals are limited to small cages in the breeding, providing artificial food, it is difficult to breathe fresh air, can not eat natural forage, can not be freely active in the embrace of nature, whether it is mood, or health, as well as the function of the body, it is difficult to be happy and happy with the animals raised under natural conditions, and the quality of its livestock products is the same. Why do ecological free-range eggs have a delicious flavor? Why does the prairie lamb have a strong taste? Why does wild pork cost more? It's because the free-range animals get more of nature's bounty!
However, he has heard many stories of "hare domestication" getting rich, and he has also seen the precedent of the success of "breeding hares" through television. But is it feasible for rabbits to be stocked in the wild? Can it be successful? He had no bottom in his heart. So he searched the Internet for answers. Fortunately, I found an article by Professor Guzilin of Hebei Nongda " On the Problem of Hare and Its Artificial Breeding " . In this article, Mr. Gu analyzes and exposes the illusion of making money from breeding hares in society, pointing out that "it is difficult for real hares to be artificially bred in large quantities, and it is even more difficult to breed in large quantities." If you can't breed in large quantities, it is difficult to make a lot of money by breeding hares. Therefore, instead of domestically raising hares, it is better to raise domestic rabbits." After reading it, he read it like a treasure and studied it repeatedly. I thought: This is the right way to beat! Originally wanted to stock hares, did not think that this road would not work. Fortunately, it is a domestic rabbit that was bought, and it is feasible to raise rabbits in the wild!
At first, he thought that raising rabbits was a very easy thing to do and would not encounter many difficulties. Especially in the wild, rabbits are physically strong, and there is no serious disease or disaster. With good wishes, he began the difficult road of rabbit breeding.
The first thing that hit him was the early days of the introduction of rabbits, due to water and soil and other reasons, by the time they officially entered the rabbit farm, nearly forty had died. It is hard to wait until the construction of the rabbit farm is completed, put the remaining 160 rabbits into the rabbit farm, it looks like a live jump, cute to the extreme, fifty acres of rabbit farm, only 160 rabbits, can be described as a blessing! Who knew that the next morning when I went in to take a look, nearly ten rabbits lying on the ground were already dying, and five rabbits were paralyzed in their hind limbs, and it seemed that their waists were broken. Why did ten rabbits die overnight? There is a high probability of feeling poisoned. So careful investigation, found that there is a local Gansu called "cat milk" poisonous plant on the mountain, because the rabbit has not seen the green grass, eat wildly, poisoned and died, and then the whole family mobilized the rabbit farm to remove all the cat milk grass, finally a smooth week.
Rabbit and simple shade shelter
A second blow followed. Within a few days, the rabbits were coughing and sneezing again, and then two rabbits returned to the west. The third blow came in the summer. The fourth blow was an eagle attack. Owls steal at night, due to the large venue, at one time at most six rabbits a night have turned into owls of supper, which is really a headache! Can't catch and catch, hit and can't beat (the state protects animals, catch illegal), and then strengthen patrols at night, strong lights and cannons to scare and expel, later hang bunting flags, fly large flags, pull nets in some positions, install fluorescent lamps (after the fact, it turns out that the effect is not large, only the warning lights of the flash are good). Flags flutter all over the mountains, beware of eagles taking rabbits

One after another, the rabbit farm has no benefits, and many people in the village have advised him to give up the rabbit farm, "going out to work is much better than raising rabbits"! There are also people waiting to see his jokes, and the family is not so supportive at the beginning, and he once had a moving thought. It is his wife who has the silent support behind his back, cheering him up, letting him persevere, the field has been spread out, let it go! In the case of no income throughout the year, he did not give him an ugly face, and he was still as loving as ever. This made him feel extremely relieved, and strengthened his determination to raise rabbits.
After some exploration, although he gained some experience, he did not know how to solve many problems, and he deeply felt the inadequacy of his own strength. Therefore, he checked the information on the Internet, joined the WeChat group related to rabbits, made more friends, and with the help of friends, his rabbit industry was further developed. Several important issues have been solved:
First, prevent escape. Set up a Dutch mesh circle with a height of 1 meter and 8 meters around the rabbit farm, and erect a pole every four or five meters to strengthen the force strength and ensure solidity and reliability;
Second, prevent animal pests. At present, it solves the problem of injury to animals such as eagle, dog, and ferret;
Third, green roughage. In summer and autumn, in addition to the local harvest of a certain amount of alfalfa grass, the use of the local abundant alfalfa grass resources (alfalfa in many wasteland) replenished once, harvest excess grass to dry, for other seasons to feed;
Fourth, concentrate supplements. According to the natural feed feeding situation in the wild, supplement the concentrate as appropriate. Its formula is based on local abundant resources, such as: alfalfa grass powder, wheat bran, cornmeal, oil residue and other pressed granules, without adding any other additives;
Fifth, disease prevention. The prevention of common diseases is basically solved. The use of locally abundant Chinese herbal medicines (such as: purslane, plate blue root, astragalus, licorice, etc.), scientific compatibility, phased addition to feed, prevention of common diseases;
Sixth, the issue of reproduction. Due to the cold winter, no breeding is currently carried out, and other seasons are free to mate, and the reproductive survival rate can reach more than 90%;
Seventh, the issue of inbreeding. In order to prevent inbreeding, he adopted zone breeding and regularly changed breeds of male rabbits. And there are plans to introduce a certain breed of male rabbits from other places to update their bloodlines;
At present, the rabbit herd has been developed to a certain extent, and more than 500 commercial rabbits have been sold, and hundreds of them are in the process of growing.
Fourth, the aroma of wine in the deep alley is far away
As the saying goes, the aroma of wine is not afraid of the depth of the alley. However, for wild rabbits, their quality is absolutely excellent, safe and green. However, in the remote Huining of Gansu Province, his rabbit farm, few people know about it. There is no local habit of eating rabbit meat. The current small number is not a big problem. With the continuous maturity of technology and the expansion of the number and scale of aquaculture, market sales will become the bottleneck of development. Therefore, Ma Zongding hopes that more people will understand the wild breeding of domestic rabbits, let more people participate in the wild breeding of domestic rabbits, and let more people enjoy the delicious cuisine of wild rabbits.
