Founded on July 1, 1981, Taiwan Xueba Park is bounded by the ridge line between Guyan Mountain and Leshan (Luchang Dashan) in the north, the upper reaches of Dajia Creek in the east, the natural ridge line from North Keng Shan to Xiaoxue Mountain in the west, and the yuluowei Mountain and the middle reaches of Dajia Creek in the south, located at the junction of Hsinchu, Miaoli and Taichung counties, with a total area of 76,850 hectares.
The origin of the name SnowMaster
Taiwan is at the junction of the two major plates, the movement of manufacturing has never stopped, and the Snow Mountain Range has also been born.
The park is located in the core area of the geologically known as "Snow Mountain Fortress", and is jointly named after the second highest peak in Taiwan - Snow Mountain, Century Qi Peak - Dabajian Mountain, and in addition to Xueba, there are wuling four xiu (Pintian Mountain, Chi Youshan, Taoshan, Karaye Mountain), Zhijiayang Dashan, Jiayang Mountain, Dajian Mountain, Jianshan Mountain, Daxue Mountain... There are 51 peaks of more than 3,000 meters, and 19 of them are listed among the hundreds of mountains, which is a typical alpine park, with both terrains such as valleys, alpine lakes, canyons, river terraces, and rivers, and is a classroom for studying orogeny geology.
Xueba National Park also contains a complete and rich flora and fauna and human resources, after investigation, there are 1103 species of vascular plants, 61 species of rare plants, such as Taiwan rubbing trees, Di Muhua hydrangeas, snow mountain green edges and other plants; the animal part is even more abundant, including 32 species of mammals, 97 species of birds, 14 species of reptiles, 6 species of amphibians, 16 species of freshwater fish and 89 species of butterflies, including the decreasing number of rare animals, such as cherry blossom hookfish, Taiwan black bear, emperor pheasant, blue-bellied part of the fish, Taiwan pepper fish, Wide-tailed butterflies and ascending butterflies and other precious wild animals such as Taiwanese macaques, mountain qiang, Taiwanese long-maned goats, Taiwanese wild boars, sambar deer, etc. It is a nature outdoor classroom for in-depth tourism and education.
Wuling Recreation Area
The Four Show Barrier runs through the North and Qijiawan Streams, making Wuling full of the beauty of the mountains and rivers. The recreation resources in the area are mainly the Wuling Farm, which has retired from the Auxiliary Association, and a 4.48-kilometer forest bathing trail with a variety of forests; whether it is mountain viewing, water viewing, flower viewing, or bird viewing, the scenery is vivid and moving at four o'clock. This area has a special ecological status because of its last habitat, the "national treasure" fish, the cherry blossom hookfish.
Fog viewing recreation area
Located in the northwest corner of the park, with the Forest Bureau's Misty Forest Recreation Area as the center, the most representative landscape is the sacred ridge line between Dabajian Mountain and Snow Mountain, and this area naturally becomes the best entrance to Dabajian Mountain. The park is home to a variety of precious and rare animals and plants, such as Taiwanese sassafras trees, broad-tailed butterflies, and hydrangeas, all of which are listed conservation animals. There are 5 recreation routes in the area, including the Hinoki Mountain Sacred Wood Trail, the Guanwu Waterfall Trail, the Hazel Mountain Trail, the Leshan Forest Trail, and the East Route of the Dalu Forest Road, all of which are equipped with self-guided interpretation facilities to introduce the birds, plants, landscapes and other natural resources in the park; among them, each of the Hinoki Mountain Sacred Trees has been more than a thousand years old, which is a rare red juniper tree forest in Taiwan.
Wenshui Recreation Area
The Wenshui Visitor Center of Xueba National Park is equipped with an exhibition room and an audio-visual room, which presents the geology, terrain, flora and fauna and cultural landscape resources of the park with easy-to-understand text and vivid and wonderful pictures, so that visitors can understand the general situation of the national park in the shortest time. With an octagonal two-storey building next to it, it is close to the ecological landscape lake, with excellent views, and there are simple catering and national park publications for sale, which is a good place to rest or read about nature.
Yukimi recreation area
Located in Tai'an Township, Miaoli County, in the northwest corner of Xueba Park, the Yukimi Recreation Area is one of the important recreational areas actively developed by the park. The recreation area is centered on Nibensong and extends north along the Sima Zhilin Trail to the area of Dongshaoshui Mountain, and the magnificent alpine landscape of the Snow Ba Sacred Ridge Line from the Snow Mountain to the DabaJian Mountain, as well as the natural ecology on the forest road, are the main recreational resources.
A fish endemic to Taiwan
Taiwan cherry blossom hookfish - salmon family, a subspecies endemic to Taiwan, because of the cherry blossom-like pattern on the side of the body, the male fish in the breeding period under the thickening of the kiss and the hook-shaped and named, must live in the water temperature below 16 degrees Celsius, the water quality is pure. After years of reclamation, resulting in the destruction of its habitat, the fish population has decreased rapidly, and it is currently only distributed in the upper reaches of the Qijiawan Creek in the Wuling area, becoming a "national treasure" fish that needs to be revived.
