Mozi's tips

Author: Wang Jian

At the beginning of the Warring States period, a hot afternoon. On the official road leading to the Chu State, a middle-aged man with a dark face was running fast. He wore a turban of green cloth, a short brown coat, a bag covered with dust on his back, and the grass shoes on his feet oozed blood. He looked exhausted, but he didn't stop his hurried steps. The short sword in his waist and the resolute look in his eyes make us understand: this is a chivalrous guest, a chivalrous guest with a great mission!

This middle-aged man is Mozi, a native of Lushan, Henan. That day, he heard bad news that the Chu state was going to attack the Song state, and asked Lu Ban to create a cloud ladder to besiege the city. He immediately set off, walking day and night, walking for ten days, and finally arrived in the Chu Kingdom.

He first found the craftsman Lu Ban. Lu Ban asked him, what is the urgency of walking so far? Mozi said, "Someone in the north insulted me, and I want to ask you for your help to kill him." The reward is two hundred and two gold. ”

Lu Ban was not happy when he heard this, and he lowered his face and said, "I preach benevolence and righteousness, and I will never kill anyone!" Mozi immediately stood up, made a deep sigh, and said, "You helped the Chu State to build a ladder to attack the Song Kingdom, is this your benevolence?" Do you know how many people lose their lives for this? ”

Mozi went to see the King of Chu again. In front of the King of Chu, Mozi and Lu Ban conducted a simulated offensive and defensive drill. As a result, every time Luban lost.

King Chu said helplessly, "Hey! Forget it, the widows don't fight the Song Kingdom anymore. ”

This is the famous story of "stopping Chu and attacking the Song" in Chinese history. Mozi traveled thousands of miles to the Chu state for one purpose: to prevent war and defend peace. In the end, Mozi single-handedly defeated a country and saved a country, unharmed and retreated.

Don't you think it's incredible? Mozi relied on something to accomplish a task that no one else could accomplish.

Mo Qian, Mozi is opening the bag for us, showing his tricks.

Mozi's first trick is "simultaneous love". In Mozi's view, "simultaneous love" is the key to solving all problems, and in the end, it will be able to achieve the common ideal of "the hungry get food, the cold get clothes, and the laborers get rest", "the strong do not cling to the weak, the rich do not insult the poor, the nobles do not be cheap, and the deceitful do not deceive the foolish". Now, the Chu state attacked the Song state, undoubtedly destroying the "simultaneous love", Mozi stood on the moral high ground to carry out the tart, and there was naturally a deterrent force in his words.

The second trick that Mozi showed was "doing righteousness". Righteousness and profit are to do more things that are beneficial to the country and the people. Those who have power to help others; those who have money to fund others; those who have knowledge and technology to educate others. This is all "doing righteousness." The Chu-Song War originally had nothing to do with Mozi, but he still felt that he should take care of it. His responsibility for the morality of the world is resolute and bold, and he can even go to the soup and fight with the city. In Mozi's view, it is natural to come for righteousness and die for righteousness.

The third trick that Mozi showed was "technology". The Mo family will never act righteously, but will never be brave, but talk about science and technology. The disciples of the Mo family are all craftsmen, usually engaged in production and labor, eating "quinoa soup" and wearing "short brown clothes". Once there was a war, it was immediately transformed into a military technical talent. What is more important is their heroic spirit of "believing their words, taking fruit in their deeds, fulfilling their promises, and not loving their bodies". Among the sons of the Mo family, hundreds of warriors with the most capable and loyal members formed a death squad and a special operations team. As soon as these people heard Mozi's instructions, they could "go to the soup and fight the fire, and die without heeling." Therefore, Mozi had enough courage to confront the great powers, so that the king of Chu had nothing to rely on morally and technically, and eventually voluntarily gave up his aggressive behavior.

The fourth trick that Mozi shows is "faith". Mozi hopes to establish an ideal society of "cold and hot festivals, four seasonal tones, five grains, six animals, diseases, epidemics, and fierce hunger" through "Shangxian", and is willing to make hard efforts for it. Seeing that Mozi was working so hard, his friend sighed and said, "The only people in the whole world are still busy, why bother?" Stop there! Mozi said sadly, "I don't do this kind of thing, who will do it?" It is as if a family has ten sons, nine of whom refuse to work, and the remaining one can only work harder, otherwise how can the family survive? ”

It is with these four tricks that Mozi and his team have frequently intervened on the international stage to turn the tide of the tide and save all people from water and fire. Then, "when things are done, they will go away and hide their merits and fame deeply", not seeking fame and fortune, and not seeking returns.

The most emotional scene of "Stopping Chu and Attacking Song" is that Mozi is very tired and embarks on the way home, still on foot. When passing through the Song Dynasty, the sky began to rain heavily. He wanted to go into the city to avoid it, but he didn't expect that the soldiers guarding the city in the Song Kingdom said that they would not let him in.

Mozi had no choice but to continue to walk alone in the storm of history. His back, like a bolt of lightning, left an enduring echo for future generations. Wang Anshi praised Mozi for "rejuvenating the good and eliminating the disadvantages, and taking the world as his own responsibility"; Sun Yat-sen called Mozi the grandmaster of "equality and fraternity" in China; Liang Qichao compared Mozi to China's bacon; Mao Zedong bluntly said that Mozi was "a saint who is more intelligent than Confucius".

In his later years, Mozi returned to his hometown of Yaoshan Town. He was too tired to lie down on the rocks of the mountain and fell asleep, and the contents of his bag were scattered on the ground: "The wise man, the foundation of the government" "The strong man is not wise enough, and the unbeliever does not do the fruit", "Stained in the sky is cang, dyed in yellow is yellow, so the dye must not be careless", "The reason why benevolent people do things, they will prosper the interests of the world, and remove the harm of the world", "Food will always be full, and then seek beauty; clothes will always be warm, and then seek beauty; living in peace, and then seeking pleasure", "Without words and unbelief, without virtue and without reporting, throwing me peach, repaying it with Li", "Thrifty and prosperous, adulterous and dead"... These rolling proverbs, like flowing water, echo with wise voices. Like a black treasure, it radiates a sparkling brilliance. (Wang Jian)
