The Institute of Mineral Resources of the China Geological Survey recently launched the "Exploring Ulanhada Volcano" science popularization activity in the Right Wing Houqi Ulanhada Volcano Geopark in Chahar, Inner Mongolia.
The Lanhada Volcanic Group is the only Area of the Inner Mongolian Plateau where volcanic eruptions have occurred in the Holocene, and the volcano is well preserved and basically unblotted, making it a natural volcanic "museum". The event is divided into "Hello, Volcano! "Knowledge lectures, wild treasure hunting, volcanic eruption experiments, field camping and other 4 links, to popularize the knowledge of earth science, enhance the awareness of resources and dangers, a total of 12 children from 11 families participated, the youngest 7 years old, the oldest 10 years old."

Science popularizers introduced the earth's circle and evolution to the children, explained the formation process of Ulanhada Volcano, etc., so that everyone had a comprehensive understanding of volcanic eruption methods, volcanic rock types, volcanic geological disasters, volcanic effects and resources. Science popularizers led the children to climb VolcanoEs No. 5, No. 6 and No. 7 on foot, guiding everyone to observe volcanic rocks and volcanic structures on the spot and analyze the formation process of volcanoes. The children took photos of typical volcanic structures, collected specimens of different types of volcanic rocks, and classified the specimens with the assistance of popular science workers.
The event was rich in content, providing children with the opportunity to acquire knowledge, apply knowledge, solve problems, and enhance their ability to communicate, collaborate and explore. Everyone expressed their hope that in the future, they can further understand the geological scientific research work and more geological science popularization activities can enter the campus.
