Born in Weihai, Shandong Province in 1947, Tan Daoliang moved to South Korea with his parents, where he grew up. Since childhood, Tan Daoliang has systematically learned taekwondo under the arrangement of his parents, so that he has a deep foundation in martial arts. At the age of 17, in order to carry forward his kung fu, Tan Daoliang opened an apprenticeship in South Korea and became the youngest taekwondo instructor at that time.
Since the age of 20, Tan Daoliang has won a taekwondo competition in South Korea for three consecutive years, known as "flying legs", and is well-known in the world martial arts community. In that year, Chiang Ching-kuo visited South Korea, because he loved martial arts, Han Convenient invited Tan Daoliang to perform taekwondo live, and when he showed a superb martial art, he was immediately deeply appreciated by Chiang Ching-kuo, and was then hired by Li to Taiwan for long-term development.
"Master of the Legs" in action movies
In 1970, at the age of 23, Tan Daoliang was appointed as an officer coach of the National Army in Taiwan Province, and also founded the "Republic of China Taekwondo Committee", which set off a frenzied "kung fu tide" in Taiwan, and Liu Zhongliang and Bruce Lee's daughter Li Xiangling were his proud protégés.

Since then, Tan Daoliang has continued to make films, and in 1974, he became the male number one in the action film "Pearl River Storm", playing the martial arts "Atang" in the film. Later, Tan Daoliang successively starred in many kung fu masterpieces such as "Thief Gong Ji", "Tantric Sacred Hand", "Hero Out of Youth" and so on, becoming one of the most popular kung fu superstars in Hong Kong, Taiwan and even the whole of Asia in the 70s. Years later, according to Tan Daoliang, during that time, he often had to catch about 8 plays a day, and the highest record did not sleep for 27 consecutive days.
In 1976, Wu Yusen officially joined Jiahe Pictures, and in order to cater to the most fashionable kung fu films of the moment, he invited Tan Daoliang to play the male protagonist in "Shaolin Gate".

In the 1980s, as kung fu films gradually lost the mainstream market, Tan Daoliang also had the intention of withdrawing from film and television. After filming the movie "The Last Breath" with Qin Han, Tan Daoliang announced that he had stopped filming, moved to the United States with his family, and continued to open martial arts centers there, and so far, there are thousands of disciples and grandchildren.
In 2003, when Zhou Xingchi was preparing to make the movie "Kung Fu", he attached great importance to Tan Daoliang, so he came to the door and invited him to play the role of "Fire Cloud Evil God", but he was rejected. It is rumored that the reason why Tan Daoliang did not want to take over the role was because he did not want to destroy the image of a "pure warrior".
After 2003, Tan Daoliang and his family returned to their home country of Taiwan to settle down, although now that he has transformed into a businessman, the possibility of re-shooting is minimal.
