The most spiritual bird- the locust warbler

The frequent talk of locust warblers with migratory bird observers makes them all eager to see them soon, and one of them is talking about them today. But there are not many opportunities to actually see them, so they are even more embarrassed. Although the small locust warbler and the grasshopper warbler are the more common migratory birds at the No. 6 migratory bird observation station, their migration period is irregular, some years arrive in mid-August, and some years are delayed until the end of November, so that the migratory bird observers who have participated in the observation record of migratory birds in the past two years have not yet seen it.

It should be said that locust warblers are small bird species, one is that they do not migrate in groups, and the other is that they always hide in the weeds and bushes near the water, and the individuals are infested and are not easy to find. In particular, I found that they were mostly before or after the migratory bird observation period, when birds were scarce, and many migratory bird observers did not have my patience to dry up at the observatory, so there was less chance of discovery.
Little locust warbler
The rarest locust warbler in Dalian is the cangmei locust warbler. On June 29, 2010, I was doing observation at the No. 2 migratory bird observation point, and when I was about to leave that evening, suddenly a large warbler flew down, I found that I had never seen it, and immediately turned the camera, but it suddenly flew away, which made me very sorry. When I got home that night, I checked the information according to the impression, and felt that it should be a locust warbler, so I went to wait the next day, but I didn't find it until the light was no longer able to shoot. Then on the third day I went to wait. I have an experience that migratory birds that migrate to Dalian generally do not leave immediately, but always stop for a few days. But the day was again disappointed. On the third day I was fierce, waiting for it, and no matter what bird came, it did not move. But in the evening, there was still no shadow of the warbler. To leave, I advised myself: Hold on for another 5 minutes. Five minutes passed, and I persuaded myself to hold on for another 5 minutes. Five minutes later, I was about to leave with a sigh when suddenly a bird emerged from the bushes, and it was the same browed locust warbler I was expecting. I posted a picture of it on the Internet, and several bird experts congratulated me and told me that I was the first person in China to shoot it in the wild. Although the equipment was poor and the light was insufficient, the 172 paintings of the locust warblers in a row became a source of pride for a long time.
I waited three days to wait for the browed locust warbler
The locust warbler is a more common migratory bird in Dalian in autumn, and on the most common day, three were found at the No. 6 Migratory Bird Observatory, one of which had yellowish feathers, which, unlike the common, seemed to be sub-adult or newborn birds of the year. They are not afraid of people at all, so they are not easy to shoot because they are almost idle, and they are always walking and foraging. They also don't hide from humans, but they always walk through the grass by the water's edge, so they seem to be hiding from people.
In recent years, I have been very busy, and I no longer walk into the migratory bird observation station until the period of observation of migratory birds, so I have lost touch with these cute locust warblers and have not seen them for several years, which makes me miss them very much. If possible, I'll walk into the migratory bird observatory in late August or early September this fall, for nothing else, just to meet the locust warblers.
Although there are not as many locust warblers as there are grasshoppers, they are not particularly rare and are easy to see at the No. 6 Migratory Bird Observatory. Their ratio to the spotted locust warbler is about 1/4, which means that only one can be seen every 4 spotted locust warblers. The small locust warbler is slightly slower than the grass locust warbler, but it also has a fight with the yellow-waisted willow warbler, especially it is also foraging in the grass, so the shooting difficulty is not much less than the grass locust warbler. Their migration period is relatively long, and I photographed them as early as mid-August and as late as late November.
The spotted locust warbler and the little locust warbler are very cute little birds, not only have a very high appearance, but also have a more cute look, which always gives me the feeling of watching children playing. Therefore, in the past, if you did not see them in the autumn of a certain year, you felt that this migratory bird observation period was busy.
