Travel with history, I am Yiming!
As we all know, Lanzhou is the capital of Gansu Province, when it comes to the city, many people think of beef ramen, but in fact, the landmarks that Lanzhou must punch are the Zhongshan Bridge on the Yellow River and the Baita Mountain on the north bank. In this issue, let's take a walk with Yiming!
The first is this Zhongshan Iron Bridge, which was built in the 33rd year of Guangxu in the Qing Dynasty (1907) and was originally called lanzhou yellow river iron bridge.
The predecessor of the Iron Bridge was the Zhenyuan Bridge built in the 5th year of Hongwu (1372) in the Ming Dynasty, and after many relocations, it was finally moved here 13 years later. However, at that time, the Zhenyuan Bridge was only a pontoon bridge, which was not safe, and there were often tragedies of bridge destruction and death.
Until the end of the Qing Dynasty and the beginning of the People's Republic, the rise of modern technology, the Qing government, at the suggestion of Lanzhou Daotai and the Governor of Gansu, used more than 300,000 taels of silver from the national treasury to build the first iron bridge on the Yellow River, which was built by German companies, and the Americans and Germans did technical guidance.
Not only that, all the bridge construction materials of Zhongshan Bridge are imported from Germany, first by sea to Tianjin, and then transferred from Tianjin to Lanzhou, and the construction personnel are mainly 69 foreign craftsmen hired by German businessmen.
It took a total of 3 years to build this Zhongshan Bridge, which is known as the "first bridge of the Yellow River in the world". The iron bridge is 234 meters long, 7.5 meters wide, has 6 piers and 5 holes, and 5 curved steel arch beams are flying on the bridge.
In China at that time, Lanzhou Iron Bridge, Jinan Daokou Iron Bridge and Zhengzhou Iron Bridge were called the three major bridges of the Yellow River. In 1928, it was renamed Zhongshan Bridge in honor of Dr. Sun Yat-sen.
As the earliest and only steel girder bridge built on the Yellow River to this day, Zhongshan Bridge has had an important impact on urban architecture in Lanzhou and even the whole country, and now it has become a pedestrian bridge and has become the most important cultural relics and city business card of Lanzhou.
<h1 class="pgc-h-arrow-right" data-track="51" > White Tower Mountain</h1>
At the northernmost end of zhongshan bridge is Baita Mountain, another urban landmark in Lanzhou, named after a White Pagoda Temple on the mountain. The temple was built in the Yuan Dynasty, and the existing White Pagoda was rebuilt on the site during the Jingtai period of the Ming Dynasty.
In the 54th year of the Kangxi Dynasty of the Qing Dynasty (1715), the Inspector of Gansu added new ones, expanded the temple, and changed the name of the temple to Ci'en Temple, but lanzhou people still used to call it baita temple.
Baita Mountain is not very high, you can soon climb to the top of the mountain, there is a Fayu Temple, Xiyu Pavilion on the mountainside, sitting in the pavilion can overlook the Yellow River, Zhongshan Bridge, and the entire Lanzhou City. I really didn't expect that Lanzhou, located in the west, was so prosperous that it completely changed my impression of the Great Northwest.
Through the pavilion, climb a section up and immediately arrive at the top of the White Pagoda Temple, this ancient temple, the plane is rectangular, there is a white pagoda in the middle, for the solid brick tower, the tower body is eight sides and seven levels, 17 meters high, and there are Buddha statues on each side at all levels.
There are copper horses in the corner eaves, the breeze blows, crisp and beautiful, the tower has a green roof, the tower has a round base, the whole body is white, straight and beautiful, worthy of being a landmark building in Lanzhou City.
To the south of the White Pagoda are the three major temples, to the north is the Hall of the Bodhisattva of Junti, and there are several side halls in the east and west. The temple's elephant skin drum, bronze bell and bauhinia tree were known as the "Three Treasures of Zhenshan" in ancient times, but unfortunately the bauhinia tree has now died.
Standing on the top of the White Pagoda, the entire high-rise buildings of Lanzhou City can be seen clearly, which is a rare natural viewing platform, and it is also free to open.
Nowadays, on the bus and subway card that Lanzhou people use every day, the C position is this White Tower Mountain, which shows people's love for it.
In addition to the White Pagoda Temple on the mountain, there are relief walls, Fayu Temple, Fenglin Xiangyuan Arch, Wujiao Pavilion, Sanxing Hall, Wenchang Palace, Yunyue Temple, Spring Rain Pavilion, Another Village, Flying Zipline and other landscapes, which are also worth seeing.
