Xi Jinping: Over the past 70 years, we have never forgotten the martyrs who died heroically in the War to Resist US Aggression and Aid Korea. More than 197,000 heroic sons and daughters have sacrificed their precious lives for the motherland, for the people and for peace. The merits of the martyrs are impressive, and the heroic names of the martyrs will last forever!

This passage is from Xi Jinping's speech on October 23, 2020, at the commemoration of the 70th anniversary of the Chinese Volunteer Army's War to Resist US Aggression and Aid Korea.

70 years ago today, the 118th Division of the 40th Army of the Chinese Volunteer Army fought against the enemy in the areas of Liangshuidong and Fengxiadong in Korea, completely annihilating one battalion and one artillery squadron of the enemy army, and winning the first annihilation battle of the volunteer army going abroad. On this day, the 118th Division, the 120th Division and the 42nd Army of the 40th Army of the Volunteer Army launched operations in three places, which became the anniversary of the Chinese Volunteer Army's War to Resist US Aggression and Aid Korea.

"The heavens and the earth are heroic, and the thousand autumns are still awe-inspiring." Under the circumstance that the military strength of the enemy and us was extremely asymmetrical and the conditions were extremely difficult, the Chinese People's Volunteer Army bravely fought bravely against a strong enemy and, together with the Korean people and army, sacrificed their lives and forgot their deaths and fought with blood, winning a great victory in the War to Resist US Aggression and Aid Korea, engraving the coordinates of the times in which China, as an emerging socialist country, based itself on the world, and also winning an environment for Peace Construction for China for a long time.

The War to Resist US Aggression and Aid Korea was a just war to defend peace and resist aggression, and a just war to exalt the spirit of internationalism. Looking back, we understand the preciousness of peace even more. Whether it is China's long-term development or the world's lasting stability, peaceful development will be an important prerequisite for promoting the common prosperity of all countries. Since the 18th National Congress of the Communist Party of China, the Party Central Committee with Comrade Xi Jinping as the core has always stressed the need to unswervingly follow the path of peaceful development, which is China's solemn commitment and responsibility for the future direction of the world.

70 years later, the shouts of the volunteer soldiers are still in the ears, and the scene of horror seems to be in front of them. No matter how the times change, the sacrifices and dedications of the volunteers will be remembered, the great spirit of resisting US aggression and aiding Korea will be inherited, and the Chinese attitude of "friends come with good wine, jackals come with shotguns" will be chanted.
