Mangya City, Haixi Mongol and Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture, located in the northwestern border of Qinghai Province, is the throat of Tonggan's entry into Tibet and is the "western gate" of Qinghai. In the past, this was an ancient wasteland, only wind and sand raged, with the development and construction of Qinghai oilfield, the famous "Gobi Tent City" became famous. On December 27, 2018, Mangya City became the fourth county-level city in Qinghai Province.

However, Mangya City has thus become the "loneliest city" in China. Why? Because there is no organized city within a radius of 350 kilometers around Mangya City, and there is no county seat within 200 kilometers of the surrounding area, the nearest city, Dunhuang City, Gansu Province, is about 390 kilometers away from Huatugou Town in Mangya City, while milan Town, the nearest county-level town of Xinjiang Corps 36 regiment, is 202 kilometers away from Mangya City, and the nearest county town, Ruoqiang County, Xinjiang Bazhou, is 248 kilometers away from Mangya City, and 580 kilometers away from the prefecture capital Delingha City.
The kilometers from the above towns to the city of Mangya are still straight-line distances in geographical space, and if you count the road mileage, the road mileage from Mangya City to Milan Town in the 36th Regiment is 283 kilometers, the road mileage from Ruoqiang County is 350 kilometers, the road mileage from Dunhuang City is 558 kilometers, the highway mileage to Golmud City is 454 kilometers, and the highway mileage to the prefecture capital Delingha City is 680 kilometers.
From this point of view, Mangya City is the most "lonely" city in the country, even more lonely than the prefecture-level Sansha City in Hainan Province. Because Sansha City is the nearest city in China to the surrounding areas is the county-level Wanning City on Hainan Island, the straight-line distance is 300 kilometers, which is closer than mangya City to Dunhuang City. Although the area around Sansha City is a vast sea, the South China Sea is the most important and busiest sea communication line in China. However, the area around Mangya City is the four major uninhabited areas in China, the south is the world-famous Coco Xili No Man's Land, Changtang No Man's Land, the west is the famous Argin Mountain No Man's Land, the northwest is the famous Lop Nur No Man's Land, and the east is the sparsely populated Qaidam Basin, no matter where you go in any direction is no man's land, you say that Mangya City can not be alone?
The county-level Mangya City belongs to Haixi Mongol and Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture in Qinghai Province, China, located in the northwest border of Qinghai Province, the western edge of the Qaidam Basin, with a total area of 49,900 square kilometers (larger than the land area of Hainan Province and Taiwan Province), and the average altitude of Mangya City is 3,000 meters. As of February 2019, there are 3 towns under the jurisdiction of Mangya City, namely Huatugou Town, Lenghu Town, and Mangya Town, and the Municipal People's Government is stationed in Huatugou Town, that is, the urban center of huatugou Town. Mangya City has a total population of 63,000 people, of which 55,000 are registered residents and 08,000 are floating populations. The population is mainly concentrated in the towns of Mangya and Huatugou, and the rest of the population is mostly deserted, with an average of less than one person per square kilometer.
A name derived from the Mongolian "forehead", the county-level Mangya Administrative Committee was established in 1984, the county-level Cold Lake Administrative Committee was established in 1992, and the Mangya Administrative Committee and the Cold Lake Administrative Committee were abolished in 2018 to merge to form the county-level Mangya City. Located in the throat of Qinghai(Hai) and Xinjiang traffic, Mangya is a must for the ancient Silk Road and the northwest gateway of Qinghai Province. In ancient times, mangya was a necessary place for the "silk auxiliary road", often flourishing when the Hexi Corridor was not smooth, and was in a state of intermittentness. At present, there is Huatugou Airport, and the Kuge Railway (Xinjiang Korla to Qinghai Golmud Railway) has a railway station in Huatugou in the urban area of Mangya City.
There is also an interesting story about Mangya City, that is, the name of the city of Mangya City has been pronounced. What's going on? Let the town planner give you an answer: the word "cliff" in Mangya City shows in the literature that because the mongolian standard pronunciation of Mangya is "Mangya", the pronunciation of Mangya that the locals have long read is Mangya (ái), which is made of Mongolian consonant umlauts. However, most outsiders do not understand the local pronunciation, and when they see Chinese characters, they will pronounce it as yá. Moreover, the ya character in the Xinhua Dictionary is not a polysyllabic character, the regular pronunciation is (yá), and there is a pronunciation of (ái) in the old pronunciation and dialect, but it was later cancelled and all changed to (yá). As a result, the pronunciation of the locals on the cliffs also changed. Now, most locals read yá. At present, Mangya City is preparing to seek procedures for the relevant formal institutions to review the pronunciation and definition of Mangya, and the accurate pronunciation of Mangya has not yet been determined. However, previously, the Mangya Municipal Government felt that because "Cliff" did not have the pronunciation of "ái", it was impossible to spell out the word "Cliff" on the computer, which would cause the public to search for the Mangya Municipal Government website. After a long discussion between the Haixi Prefecture and mangya municipal governments, it was finally decided to change the domain name of the website to www.mangya.gov.cn.
