U.S. media said U.S. officials said on Wednesday local time that a U.S. Pacific Union Railroad train derailed and caught fire on a bridge over Lake in Tempe, Arizona, and a passenger was treated for inhaling smoke.

According to CNN reported on July 29, from the video and photos taken at the scene, it can be seen that at the place where the bridge collapsed, billowing black smoke went straight into the sky.

McMahan, a spokesman for the Pacific Union Railways, said in a statement that 8 to 10 train cars caught fire and the south side of the bridge collapsed, causing some of the carriages to sink into the open area under the bridge. The bridge was inspected annually on July 9, according to the report.

The spokesman also said that two of the carriages trapped under the bridge were loaded with the flammable chemical cyclohexanone and one was loaded with rubber material.

Witnesses riding through the area on bicycles said: "The fire poured into the lake from the middle of the bridge and looked like a scene from hell. ”

Sibert, a spokesman for the local fire department, has said people should be "as far away" from the area as possible until they know more about the dangerous goods on the train.

Siebert also said about 100 firefighters had come to the scene for rescue. (Compiler/Wang Tianbian)
