The source is the nail tablets of the turtle family Hawksbill turtle. Can be captured all year round. After being caught, it is hung upside down and poured with boiling vinegar, and its nails can be peeled off piece by piece, and the residual flesh is cleaned and washed.
The protoform can reach a length of up to 1.6 meters. There are hard scales on the back and abdomen. The head has 2 pairs of anterior zygomatic scales. The nostrils are near the end of the snout. The upper whiskers are hooked, the mouth is shaped like a parrot, and the jaw margin is jagged. The dorsal scales, which were arranged in a tile-like manner in the early days, become horizontal with age, and have a glossy surface, with a pattern of brown and light yellow. There are 5 ridged scales in the center, with 4 pairs of ribbed scales on both sides, and 25 marginal scales with serrated edges. The ventral surface consists of 13 scales and is yellowish-black. All limbs are flattened leaf-shaped. The forelimbs are larger, with 2 claws, and the hindlimbs have only 1 claw. The tail is short and usually does not expose the outer nail.
The habitat segment inhabits warm and tropical oceans. Feeds on fish, shrimp and crabs, molluscs and seaweed. It is distributed in Fujian, Taiwan, Hainan, Xisha Islands and other places. The main products are Taiwan, Fujian and Guangdong Hainan Island, Xisha Islands and other places.
Traits This product is a nearly round, triangular or polygonal plate, 10 to 20 cm long and 1.5 to 3 mm thick. The edges are thinner and the center is slightly thicker. The surface is a dark brown translucent body. It also has a dark brown and milky yellow pattern, smooth and shiny; the inner surface is densely covered with white stripes or spots, and there are crisscrossing grooves.
