"Assassination Stronghold" was replayed on 9/11 anniversary

It is also a low-budget action plot movie, interpreting the same scene from different characters, and gradually starting to uncover the mystery of the assassination, the theme and technique are very good, but....

Presumably, director Peter Travis and screenwriter Barry Levy were so poisoned by Rashomon and Akira Kurosawa that they produced an action movie with a similar structure and a very old-fashioned sense of style, "Assassination Stronghold", which repeated the same plot through the perspectives of different characters, and the background was in the panic of the post-9/11 era.

The first story we see that we think is complete is the news edited by TV producer Lex: the president of the United States is focusing on many people, and the empty square is passionately delivering a unanimous speech to eliminate terrorists, and suddenly someone shoots at him... Secret agents at the president's side appear and bring down a suspect. At the same time, there was a big explosion somewhere in the city, and subsequently, the podium where the president had just stood was destroyed in a huge explosion. Then the repetition began, this time through the eyes of Agent Thomas Barnes: when he learned over the radio that a suspicious-looking man was looking down on the square from the window of a hotel, he caught the man, and later learned that this man was an enrique, and that the Spanish side was in charge of security work, that is, protecting the mayor. Continued to repeat: a similar story was replayed again through the DV of an American tourist's selfie... repeat: Through Anrikui's eyes... This is repeated 6 or 7 times, and each time we get closer to the truth of the conspiracy behind this assassination of the president.

After Rashomon, Assassination Stronghold is not the first film to borrow a similar shooting method, nor can it be the last, such as Quentin Tarantino, who tried his hand at Dangerous Relations and was quite successful... However, the mistake of this film is that it positions itself as a tense and exciting action movie, and perhaps when it is first repeated, the audience can still maintain a high degree of attention, but such repetition is repeated again and again, and it is all similar assassination and explosion shots, and the audience may really have to sigh and frown.

Indeed, for an action movie, similar repetition can quickly get boring, especially when the similar scenes continue for the fourth time, and most of the audience's ass is already a little restless... This kind of shooting method does not affect the truth that needs to be presented in the end, but peter Travis has to expose a terrorist attack that has given you a very urgent stimulus at such a slow pace? It can only be said that the form of expression is very clever and novel, but the content of the choice is extremely stupid, and reaching such a conclusion is itself a very interesting process. Such a film may offend audiences at two extremes: for example, people who like to guess puzzles, they will of course be full of expectations for barry Levy's preset details in the script, guessing and summarizing to draw the truth, but if the process is full of eardrum-pounding explosions and bullets, it is another matter; as for the audience who like pure action scenes, the shocking scenes have been repeated so many times that they have become less attractive.

The question behind the film is still very thought-provoking: is it really enough to change the position of the camera and repeat the same story again? The right picture appears at the right time, and then the continuous repeat can be?
