The Pursuit of Happiness is one of my favorite movies and the climax scene always gives me a few catches in the throat.

When Happiness Knocks on the Door is one of my favorite movies, the climactic scenes always make me choke up a little.

Chris (Will Smith)has been through very challenging times. His wife left him; he got evicted from his house, rendered homeless; had very little income (a few dollars in his pocket), and a son to look after. All he has is an unpaid internship at a reputed stock brokerage firm and his only hope to get back his life is to beat other interns to a full-time position.

Chris (Will Smith) went through a very difficult time. The wife left him; was kicked out of the house and was homeless; had a small income (only a few dollars in his pocket) and had a son to take care of. All he had was an unpaid internship at a well-known stockbroking firm, and his only hope for a new lease on life was to beat out other interns for a full-time position.

But he is already disadvantaged. Finding food and a roof for his child takes efforts and leaves very less time for him to work and earn his stripes at firm. Both of them spend nights in the homeless shelter and sometimes in the restroom of a train station.

But he is already at a disadvantage. Finding food and shelter for his child takes effort, leaving him little time to work and earn credit in the company. Both of them spent the night in a homeless shelter and sometimes in the restrooms of the train station.

Chris, however, is a tough cookie. He is not given to self-pity. He hides his problems from his colleagues and bosses at firms. Even lends his precious five dollars to a firm executive who is short of change.

However, Chris is a strong man. He doesn't pitied himself. He hid his problems from colleagues and company owners. He even lent his precious five dollars to an executive at a company that lacked change.

But he cops all of it, runs himself ragged and manages to complete his internship.

But he took care of it all, exhausted himself, and managed to complete the internship.

The firm executives call him on the last day of his internship to give him the feedback on his performance. Chris gingerly walks in, looking tired and very nervous. After shaking hands, he takes his seat.

Company executives called him in on the last day of his internship to give feedback on his performance. Chris walked in cautiously, looking tired and nervous. After shaking hands, he sat down.

Dialogue goes like this.

The conversation is like this.

Chris- “I thought I would wear a shirt… today, being the last day and all” (he forces himself to smile)

Chris - "I think I should wear a shirt today, the last day" (he forces himself to smile)

One of the executives- “….We appreciate that. But… wear one tomorrow though… OK? Because tomorrow's going to be your first day...”

One of the executives - "... We appreciated it. But...... Continue to wear tomorrow ... All right? Because tomorrow will be your first day..."

Chris stops smiling, his face turning pensive. This is big for him. But he doesn't react, yet.

Chris stopped smiling and his expression became thoughtful. It meant a lot to him. But he hadn't reacted yet.

Executive continues- “… If you'd like to work here as a broker. Would you like that,Chris?”

The executive continued - "... If you want to be a broker here. Would you like it, Chris? ”

Chris nods- “Yes sir,” fighting his emotions, his mouth contorted, eyes welled up.

Chris nodded—"Yes, sir," restraining his emotions, his mouth tense and his eyes moist.

Executive- “Good, we couldn't be happier. So welcome.” After a beat, “Was it as easy as it looked?”

Executives - "Very well, we couldn't have been happier. So welcome. There was a pause, "It's not as easy as it seems, is it?" ”

Chris still choking with emotions- “No sir. it wasn't”

Chris was still choking with emotion – "No, sir. Of course not."

After a brief informal exchange, as Chris gets up to shake hands a tear rolls down his cheek. But he gracefully acquits himself.

After a brief informal exchange, Chris got up and shook hands, a tear rolling down his cheek. But he expressed himself gracefully.

Chris walks out of the cabin and towards his desk. He has a spring in his strides, chest swelled with pride and jaws clenched in determination as executives in the background look on with admiration. He collects his stuff and leaves.

Chris walked out of the room and walked over to his desk. He strode high, proudly chested, and gritted his chin firmly, while the executives sitting behind him looked at him with admiration. He packed up his things and left.

Now he is outside the office building, standing on the sidewalk, amid the swarming mass of people passing by him. A surge of emotions rises through him. He triumphantly raises his arms and congratulates himself, then claps, then lets out a cry of joy, then throws his fists in the air. Crowd obviously doesn't care about his ecstasy but Chris is least bothered. He is enjoying the beginning of “a little part of his life” which he calls happiness.

He triumphantly raised his arms to congratulate himself, then clapped and let out a cheer and waved his fist into the air. The crowd obviously didn't care about his ecstasy, but Chris didn't mind. He was enjoying the beginning of "a small part of his life," which he called happiness.

Now we see him rushing to his kid’s day center to share his happiness. He lifts him and hugs tightly, relieved that he is finally in a position to provide his son a good life.

Now we see him rushing to the child's daycare center to share his joy. He picked up his son and hugged him tightly, and he was relieved that he could finally provide a good life for his son.

It's a beautiful scene. It's hard not to feel genuinely happy for Chris and his son after what they have been through.

It's a beautiful piece. Chris and his son, after all this, it's hard not to be genuinely happy for them.

I strongly believe that the whole four-minute scene is Will Smith’s career best performance. He emotes brilliantly without any artifice. Most of the people in his shoes would react in the same manner.

I firmly believe that the entire four-minute shot is the best performance of Will Smith's career. He did a great job without any skill. Most people who stand in his shoes will react the same way.

As for me, I'm yet to outgrow this scene and its emotional appeal.

For me, I still haven't gotten rid of this scene and its emotional appeal.
