Yangsheng Hall, Leshou Hall and Cixi New Year's Eve activities

After the Ningshou Palace is the Yangsheng Gate, outside the door to the left is the Baotai Gate, to the right is the Yuhe Gate, and the west side is the Yangsheng Gate.

Inside the Yang Sex Gate is the Yang Sex Hall, and the regulations are the same as the Yang Xin Hall. There is a throne in the middle, the plaque of Dongnuan Pavilion is "Bright Window", and after Dongnuan Pavilion is the Sui'an Room. XiYu of Xi'an Pavilion is the Moyun Room, behind the room is the Changchun Book House and the Xiangxue Hall, and the north is the Buddhist Hall.

Qianlong built the Yang Sex Hall for his residence after his abdication. During the Guangxu Dynasty, Cixi lived in Leshou Hall, where he had lunch and dinner every day, and was in the Dongnuan Pavilion of the Yangsheng Hall. Guangxu used to live in the Yangsheng Hall, where he and Cixi received ministers and their wives. After Cixi fled back to Beijing, the envoys of various countries led their wives to see him and asked Cixi to reward them with imperial pen calligraphy, and Cixi gladly agreed, writing more than a dozen large characters such as Fushou and giving them.

There were originally two plants of Wenguan fruit outside the Yangsheng Gate, also known as The Wenguan Flower, that is, the Wenguan Flower of the Bachelor's Academy recorded in the "Tang Huijiao", according to the Song people, the Wenguan flower was white, and there were also colors such as crimson and purple. Also known as MaJinnan, it is mostly prolific in Yunnan.

The Bright Window, the opening of the East Warm Pavilion of the Yangxin Hall, has the inscription "Bright Window", which is clear with window paper, and also has the meaning of Blind Eye.

The Ink Cloud Room, the West Room of the West Pavilion of the Yangxin Hall, has a plaque "Ink Cloud Room". Qianlong once had the "Record of the Ink Cloud Room", which said that the Yangxin Hall had three Xi Halls, and the Yang Sex Hall could no longer have three Xi Halls, just a piece of ancient ink, so this room was named the Ink Cloud Room. This ink is an old object of Li Tingjue of the Southern Tang Dynasty, which was once collected by the monk Fa Yi, and later presented to Qianlong by the Qing Dynasty minister Bi Yuan, with a length of more than a foot, a width of two inches, and a thickness of two tenths of a tenth.

Xiangxue Hall is a plaque of Xiyu of the Yangsheng Hall, and the ancient inscriptions of Jingsheng Zhai are embedded in the walls on both sides of the hall, which is modeled after the practice of Chunhua xuan in Changchun Garden.

Leshou Hall, behind the Yangsheng Hall, this hall was built to imitate the Chunhua Xuan of Changchun Garden, and was used by Qianlong as a resting place after abdication. Qianlong once saw Dong Qichang's "On ancient thesis", which said that after The abdication of Emperor Gaozong of Song, he called himself the old man of Leshou, and Qianlong thought that he coincided with him, so he named the study of Leshoutang leshoutang.

Behind this hall is cixi's living quarters, with The West Pavilion as the bedroom. After freshening up every morning, when I went to the middle hall of the hall, Guangxu and the concubines came to invite Ann, and then Guangxu accompanied Cixi to breakfast, four tables, Cixi sat at the west end, Guangxu sat at the east head, at this time the queen concubines and so on retreated to the porch behind the hall. When Cixi and Guangxu finished eating, the eunuch let the concubines come in and set up food around the table, which was just a ritual, in fact, the chopsticks were not moved.

The "Qing Barnyard Banknote" once recorded the situation of Cixi's meal, first by the eunuch standing in the courtyard, holding the food box, in turn, the box can put two large bowls or four small bowls, the bowls are yellow bottom green dragon, or Shouzi, about one hundred and fifty kinds of food, and two small tables, put fruit plates, drink tea is honeysuckle, dishes are mostly pigs, sheep, chicken and duck, dishes include clear soup shark fin, steamed chicken duck, pot roasted chicken and duck, egg cake, fragrant meat, cabbage simmered meat, radish simmered meat, cherry roasted meat, scallion braised meat slices, bamboo shoots fried meat shreds, etc. Staple foods include a variety of pasta, rice porridge, millet porridge, mung bean cake, peanut cake, sweet soup and so on. During the New Year's Festival, Cixi ordered the concubines to take the palace ladies to clean the Buddha statues and change the curtains, and let the eunuchs do the rest. During the New Year, Cixi would make new clothes for the concubines to reward, and they usually wore more gray rat furs, and at the end of the year, they would reward white fox furs. The cakes and baits offered to the gods for the New Year are made by the concubines themselves, and there are special rooms, and the eunuchs prepare rice noodles, white sugar, fermentation and noodles, and the preparation method is the same as making steamed buns.

During the New Year, officials from all over the world sent tributes, and Cixi had to check them, choose what he liked, put them next to him, and the rest was stored in the storeroom. Cixi loved makeup so much that the concubines would offer hand towels and soap.

On the morning of Chinese New Year's Eve, Cixi first worshipped the gods, Buddhas, ancestors, and then entered the palace to worship the New Year, all of whom were princesses, princes, Fujin, Belle and his wife, as well as people who had previous titles, wives and daughters of Manchurian officials, and so on. Seeing Cixi, he retired to rest in the other rooms, and at two o'clock in the afternoon, all went to the temple, arranged in order, led by the empress. Prior to this, Cixi first drew up a list of resignation years, and only those included in the list could enter the palace to participate in the resignation ceremony.

Chinese New Year's Eve night, the music had to be played all night before dawn stopped. At that time, Cixi gathered the guests and rolled the dice to play a game, and the winner of the roll would receive a reward of silver, and the most could be rewarded with two hundred yuan.

When Cixi sat tired for a long time, she threw the silver dollar to the ground, and the concubines and guests tried their best to grab it underground for the sake of Bo Cixi's pleasure.

In the middle of the night, a copper plate was set up, and a plate of charcoal was put into the charcoal to burn for heating, Cixi first put a few pine branches, and the concubines also folded small twigs or large pieces of rosin into the copper fire plate, so the whole house was fragrant, taking the auspicious meaning. At this time, the concubines and guests make dumplings as food for New Year's Day, because they do not cook on New Year's Day.

When it was almost dawn, Cixi took a nap, and when she woke up, everyone celebrated the New Year. At night, they watched the play, and after the play, the eunuchs played music, Cixi sang by herself, and the concubines sang along. He also ordered the eunuchs to sing, singing out of tune, the eunuchs all laughed, Cixi also laughed, only Guangxu did not smile. There are many other New Year's activities, all of which are carried out in The Lok Shou Tang.

In the forty years of Qianlong, Xinjiang Hetian once offered a large piece of jade, seven or eight feet high, with a circumference of more than one zhang, and Qianlong ordered people to carve it according to the Tang Dynasty's "Da Yu Zhi Water Map". In the Tang Dynasty, this picture painted mountains and rivers, colored, of which Dayu himself held an axe and chiseled, and the rest of the people who were forced to use various tools to build water conservancy. On the left, there are ghosts and dragons to help, and on the top of the mountain, Bo Yi commands the burning of the mountain, and the beasts flee in all directions. This jade carving was later placed in the Leshou Hall by the Palace Museum.
