From October 13th to 15th, the final of the 7th 3S Cup College Students Internet of Things Technology and Application "Three Innovations" Competition jointly sponsored by the China Communications Society and the China Institute of Electronics was held in Wuxi, and the project of Wang Weizhou (academician Chai Tianyou), a doctoral student of the State Key Laboratory of Comprehensive Automation of Process Industry (hereinafter referred to as "Process Laboratory"), won the first prize and was selected as the youth forum report project of the competition (a total of 10 items). This is the third time that the process laboratory students have won the first prize since winning the first prize in the second and third competitions.
The participating project is the innovative technology project "Digital Twin System of Complex Industrial Processes Based on the Internet of Things", guided by Academician Chai Tianyou, Professor Wang Liangyong and Associate Professor Wu Zhiwei, based on the convergence research and CPS concept to solve the high-performance control problem of complex industrial processes, put forward the algorithm and functional architecture of the digital twin system of complex industrial processes based on end-edge cloud collaboration, and establish a digital twin system of electromelted magnesium furnace based on the application case of the electromelted magnesium furnace, and develop a high-performance current control system based on the digital twin. Effectively reduce energy consumption, improve product output and enterprise efficiency.

It is reported that the 3S Cup College Students Internet of Things Technology and Application "Three Innovations" Competition includes three categories of creative design, innovative technology, and entrepreneurial solutions, aiming to promote the deep integration of 5G mobile communications, Internet of Things, big data, blockchain, artificial intelligence and the real economy, further implement the national "Internet +" and "Smart +" strategic action plans, actively create a good environment for "mass entrepreneurship and innovation" in the field of Internet of Things technology and application in China, and cultivate college students to innovate and research the Internet of Things intelligent service system (Smart Service System, or 3S for short), key technologies and system applications.
The competition attracted more than 1,000 students from many universities across the country, including Zhejiang University, Harbin Institute of Technology, University of Chinese Academy of Sciences, Taipei University of Science and Technology, Southeast University, Nanjing University of Posts and Telecommunications, Beijing University of Posts and Telecommunications, etc., involving students at all stages of the master's and doctoral degrees. Since the launch of the competition in May 2021, a total of 478 projects have been received from all over the country, and 120 shortlisted projects have been identified through a combination of online review and expert meeting review, of which 80 projects participated in the on-site finals, and 15 first prizes, 45 second prizes and 60 third prizes were finally determined. At the opening ceremony of the 2021 China Internet of Things Conference held in Wuxi on October 15, 2 chairmen and 7 academicians of the Chinese Academy of Sciences presented awards to the first prize winners.
