Since February 1, 2021, the new version of the "List of Wild Animals under National Key Protection" has been officially released, and common caged birds such as thrush, Mongolian lark and red-billed acacia bird have been upgraded to national key protected wild animals.

Whether it is bought and sold in the flower, bird and fish market, or illegal hunting in the mountains and forests, it will become the focus of the forest public security organs.

Recently, the forest police brigade of the Jinzhou Black Mountain County Public Security Bureau investigated and dealt with two criminal cases involving wild animals in a row within 36 hours, and in the two cases, a total of two criminal suspects were taken criminal compulsory measures by the police in accordance with the law, and another 3 people were given administrative punishments.

Three shops within the flower, bird and fish market selling protected wild birds 4 people were caught

On August 26, the Forest Police Brigade of the Montenegro Prefectural Public Security Bureau received a report that there were shops selling rare national wild animals in the local flower, bird and fish market.

In order to prevent the grass from startling snakes, the forest police brigade immediately set up a special team after receiving the report, and carried out surprise inspections of three shops in the flower, bird and fish market at the same time, and seized 7 national second-level wild protected animals thrushes, 1 wren, 1 national third-level wild protected animal starling, 3 wax-billed finches, and 5 ordinary suzaku at one time.

During the surprise inspection, the public security organs arrested a total of 4 criminal suspects. After investigation, 3 of them were suspected of administrative violations and 1 was suspected of criminal violations.

At present, in accordance with the relevant requirements of the Wildlife Protection Law, the 3 suspects have been handed over to the Forestry and Grassland Bureau of Montenegro County for administrative punishment.

Li Moumou, a criminal suspect suspected of endangering precious and endangered wild animals, has been taken criminal compulsory measures in accordance with law.

The birds involved in the case have been handed over to the Wildlife Department of the Forestry and Grassland Bureau of Montenegro County for further processing.

3 pieces of sticky net to catch 13 wild birds

On August 28, the Forest Police Brigade received a report from the public that someone in Huoyanghe Town, Heishan County, was using sticky nets for illegal hunting.

The police went to the scene at the first time and found three pieces of sticky nets in the backyard of Jia Moumou's home, and 13 wild birds of various types were glued to the sticky nets.

The police arrested the suspect suspected of illegal hunting on the spot. According to the Heishan County Forestry and Grassland Bureau, 11 of the 13 wild birds involved in the case are sparrows and 2 domestic swallows, and the above two birds are listed as national "three haves" wild protected animals.

Jia Moumou confessed to the criminal facts of using hunting tools to stick nets in the hunting ban period and the no-game area, and his use of the forbidden hunting tools to stick nets to kill sparrows has constituted the crime of illegal hunting.

At present, the suspect Jia Moumou has been taken criminal compulsory measures in accordance with the law.

Police remind: Please verify whether your own birds are key to protecting wild animals

According to the first paragraph of article 341 of the Criminal Law, whoever illegally hunts or kills rare or endangered wild animals under key national protection, or illegally acquires, transports or sells rare or endangered wild animals under key national protection and their products, shall be sentenced to fixed-term imprisonment of not more than five years or criminal detention and shall also be fined;

The public security organs recommend that the majority of residents with caged pets verify whether their caged pets are wild animals under key national protection, take the initiative to consult with the local wildlife protection departments for relevant matters, and the local wildlife departments will dispose of them according to actual conditions.

According to the second paragraph of article 341 of the Criminal Law, violating hunting regulations by hunting in a closed hunting area, during a hunting ban period, or using prohibited tools or methods to hunt, destroying wildlife resources, the serious circumstances constitute the crime of illegal hunting. For illegal hunting for any purpose, those suspected of committing a crime will be investigated for criminal responsibility in accordance with law.

Public security organs will continue to carry out overt inspections and covert visits, actively deploy, comprehensively map out, and intensify the crackdown on illegal trade and hunting of wild animals, and once they are found, they will be dealt with seriously in accordance with relevant laws.
