Since its first discovery in 1929, the Sanxingdui site has undergone nearly ten excavations, large and small, reaching a peak in the 1980s, which is also the period when the sanxingdui site has unearthed the most cultural relics. Due to the lack of supervision of cultural sites before liberation, the traces of stolen excavations of Sanxingdui sites have occurred, which has caused some cultural logistics to fall into the folk and appear in the cultural play market. On the other hand, many "imitation dealers" have seized this opportunity to make a fortune, and they have created a large number of "pseudo-cultural relics" and flooded them into the market, which has led to the emergence of many shoddy "Sanxingdui cultural relics".
In fact, the shoddy production is "fake cultural relics", and most of the magnificent and well-made are not genuine. We have to make it clear that the Sanxingdui culture existed nearly 4,000 years ago, when people did not have any modern tools at all, so whether it was the exquisite Bagua jade plate, or the Sanxingdui jade plate and the Sanxingdui three-dimensional jade soldier array, they were not real cultural relics, but just modern crafts with beautiful shapes.
The sanxingdui cultural relics collected by the people are not only numerous, but also most of the shapes are very "strange", and there is a jade carving called "rhinoceros back dragon" that can be called a "model" among them. It is only 25 centimeters long and 16 centimeters high, and the lower part of the jade carving is a jade rhinoceros, it is slightly bowed, its limbs are upright, and there are many patterns on its body, which looks a bit classical, and it is strange that the rhinoceros has a dragon's tail on the bridge of its nose, and the dragon's body and head are on the back of the rhinoceros, and the rhino's tail is extended to the dragon's open mouth, as if it is going to swallow it.
Is this folk collection real? The crowd was also talking about it. Some people say that it is a real cultural relic, they mainly have two bases, the first is that this jade carving is ancient, the carving is ancient, and it looks at the side of the cultural relics excavated by Sanxingdui, and the second point is that the pattern on it is very recognizable, and it is the unique style of sanxingdui cultural relics at a glance.
But more people still think it's a fake, and they have a better reason. First of all, rhinoceros and dragons are things that are not comparable to wind horses and cattle, and since ancient times, these two images have never been carved together, and the dragon is also pecking at those mosquitoes on the back of the rhinoceros? This is really ridiculous, so it seems that it is completely a "patchwork" of hard-hitting, and there is no image that a cultural relic should have.
Secondly, the dragon and the rhinoceros each have their own meanings, the rhinoceros is an animal that means auspicious and can also play the role of annunciation, while the dragon is more noble, it is a sacred beast created by our Chinese nation, implying a good life and the spirit of striving to be strong. Although these two animals have a beautiful meaning, what is the meaning of putting them together? No one can say for sure.
The third reason is the most direct, let's assume that this is a genuine thing, so what is the dragon doing when it bites the rhinoceros's tail? Is it to "eat dragon meat"? This is really ridiculous. Obviously, people who think it is genuine cannot give an explanation, which means that the authenticity of this folk collection is "vulnerable", and it is untenable in the eyes of the public.
Even so, the question of whether the rhinoceros back dragon is true or false is still a matter of public opinion and reasonableness.
