
On the afternoon of October 16, the first "Hand Speaking Jiangsu" sign language competition was held in Suzhou, and Wang Yu, a player from our city, won the third prize.
Wang Yu is a deaf teacher at Taixing Special Education School. In May this year, on the recommendation of Taixing Special Education School and Taixing Disabled Persons' Federation, Wang Yu signed up for the first "Hand Speaking Jiangsu" sign language competition. "Huangqiao is a red education base, born in 1940 during the Battle of Huangqiao, the "Song of Huangqiao Burning Cakes", witnessed a brilliant battle example in the history of the founding of the New Fourth Army in that year, won more with less, and also composed a moving chapter of the deep water feelings of military and civilian fish, which is more in line with the theme of this competition." Therefore, Wang Yu began to create a script with the theme of "Huangqiao Baked Cake".
After writing the story text, Wang Yu carefully studied the sign language expression method of every word and every word in the story, he looked up or asked others for advice through the "National General Sign Language Dictionary" APP, typed one by one according to the standard sign language until it was completed, and then repeatedly practiced gestures and expressions until the standard.
The final was held on the afternoon of October 16 at the Suzhou Municipal Library. Before going on stage, Wang Yu was still a little nervous, but thinking of representing his hometown to participate, he calmed down, plucked up courage, and tried to present the best of himself, the gestures were accurate and powerful and with emotion, very fluent, which attracted the applause of the audience.
It is reported that the first "Hand Speaking Jiangsu" sign language competition is the first time that Jiangsu Province and even the whole country have held a provincial and autonomous region-level sign language competition, and since the launch of the selection competition in May this year, the Jiangsu Provincial Association for the Deaf has received a total of 47 works. After two scorings by five experts and online public voting, a total of 12 contestants' works were finally shortlisted for the final. After 2 hours of fierce competition, 1 first prize, 2 second prizes and 3 third prizes were finally decided.
