In fact, the official name of the Northern Xinjiang Museum also comes from its French name, that is, Musee HongHo PaiHo, which translates to "Yellow River White River Museum", originally, this museum was created by Paul Mile Licent, a French Catholic Jesuit priest and naturalist, in 1914, of which the collection and display are the paleontology of northern China centered on the Yellow River and Hai River Basin, with the continuous enrichment of exhibits and the display of advanced science. In the 1920s and 1930s, the Northern Xinjiang Museum was even praised as the "first-class museum" in the world.
In 2016, the 76-year-old Northern Xinjiang Museum finally ushered in the day of resurrection, this time, after a thorough renovation of the Northern Xinjiang Museum reopened, everyone can finally enter the museum to see what the appearance of this museum with countless precious paleontological fossils and a few Western styles in the era of geographical discovery is really looking.
As the predecessor of the Tianjin Natural History Museum, the North Xinjiang Museum is hidden in an inconspicuous corner of tianjin outer Chinese University, and the North Xinjiang Museum building is composed of three parts, namely the North Building, the Showroom and the South Building, and the two buildings of the South Building and the North Building are connected by corridors, and the overall building is in a "Worker" shape layout. The building itself is already very precious, and in 2019 it was also included in the list of the eighth batch of national key cultural relics protection units, under the simple red brick façade, walk into the building, the European-style semi-rotating staircase will take you into an exotic world in a second.

According to the order of visits, the first floor exhibition hall that catches the eye is the exhibition room of the North Xinjiang Museum, which is designed and built by the French Yonghe Construction Company, which displays geology, paleontology, prehistory and ethnography, and the stone tools part of the exhibits cover a total of 392 ancient human fossil models, paleolithic tools, neolithic tools and various cultural relics collected by Sang Zhihua in Liaoning, Gansu, Inner Mongolia, Ningxia and other places from 1920 to 1935.
After looking at the first floor, go straight upstairs, and the second floor exhibits specimens of live animals and plants. In the early 19200s, when the Northern Xinjiang Museum was in normal operation, it has been hiring experts and scholars from France, Russia and other different disciplines to collect, classify, identify and research specimens for many years, so it is very scientific.
Although these now seem to be mostly very common specimens of species, it is also very necessary and rare to imagine that in the year when it was still in the Republic of China period, there was such an exhibition hall for Chinese to understand their own national flora and fauna.
The third floor of the museum is mainly displayed with specimens of northern Xinjiang skin sheets and soaked specimens, of which nearly 100 years old bird specimens, nearly 2,000 amphibians and reptiles, 1,600 fish and mammals, and invertebrate specimens are very shocking.
Moreover, the old-fashioned map cabinet and specimen storage cabinet that Sang Zhihua and other scholars used to preserve specimens, fossils, and maps have also been preserved.
Going to the South Building through the corridor will make everyone even more dazzling. In the restoration and display of the library here, more than 14,000 books, more than 900 maps and various types of printed plates collected by Sang Zhihua and others in that year, more than 900 maps and various types of printed plates were selected for display, and the most important academic achievements of the North Xinjiang Museum in the past 25 years, "Ten Years of Field Investigation of the Yellow River And White River (1914-1923)" and "Yellow River Baihe Eleven-Year Field Survey (1923-1933)" are the most precious exhibits in this exhibition. At the same time, the south building also has "paleontological warehouse restoration exhibition", "insect laboratory" and "animal laboratory", paleontological warehouse restoration display can be regarded as the original appearance of the storage specimens and fossils in the original storehouse, including Sang Zhihua and others in Gansu Qingyang, Inner Mongolia SaraWusu, Ningxia Shuidonggou, Hebei Nihewan and Shanxi Yushe and other places of many major discoveries.
