At 4:15 a.m. on January 25, 2019, Mr. Gao Shixiong, a master of traditional Chinese studies and honorary vice president of Xiling Printing Agency, passed away peacefully in Shanghai at the age of 98.
Born in 1921 in Yinxian County, Zhejiang Province, Mr. Gao Shixiong is a well-known calligrapher and gold stone seal engraver at home and abroad, who is clean and relaxed, whose skills are flowing in the clouds, whose interests are absorbed by all the strengths, and who are deeply admired by modern books and post-printing books.

Gao Zhenxiao's father, Gao Zhenxiao, was a librarian of the first batch of literature and history research museums in Shanghai, New China, and a famous calligrapher. He inherited his family's learning at an early age, his calligraphy was taught by his father, and at the age of 20, he was guided by the famous maritime artists Zhao Shuru and Wang Fu'an, and at the age of 27, he joined the Xiling Printing Society and became the youngest member at that time. For decades, he immersed himself in calligraphy, good at seal engraving, calligraphy and printing identification, calligraphy out of the rules, elegant and generous; later he liked to copy printing, and had a great study of the printing spectrum and the Indian school of the past. Its calligraphy is both good at calligraphy, line, seal, and subordination, especially the small seal is the most exquisite, and it is called double beauty along with seal carving. He is also the author of monographs such as "The Biography of the Seal of the Xiling Printing Society" and "The Seal of the High-style Bear". His works have been exhibited and published many times at home and abroad. On April 18, 2018, the 97-year-old senior was awarded the honorary title of "Lifetime Achievement Calligrapher of the China Federation of Literary and Art Circles" together with Zhang Hai, honorary chairman of the China Book Association.

Due to various reasons, the "Secret Recipe No. 49 of Lu'an Yin Clay" has become the only "bloodline" of Lu'an Yin Clay. After years of appealing by Mr. Gao Shixiong, Lu'an Yin clay was finally approved by the Shanghai Municipal Government as "National Intangible Cultural Heritage" and "Shanghai Intangible Cultural Heritage" and donated "Lu'an Yin Clay No. 49 Secret Recipe" to the state free of charge. In 2008, Lu'an Yin Clay was selected as the second batch of national intangible cultural heritage projects. In 2013, Gao Lao founded the Lu'an Printing Clay Technique Transmission Institute to teach Lu'an Printing Clay Techniques free of charge.
