On June 17, 1977, the literary scholar Ah Ying (Qian Xingcun) died of illness. Qian Xingcun, formerly known as Qian Defu and pen name Aying, is a famous playwright, literary theorist, and literary and art critic in China, who has long been engaged in revolutionary literary and artistic activities, editing "Sun Monthly" and "Sea Breeze Weekly". Representative works include the historical drama "Li Chuang Wang", "Blue Blood Flower", and the anthology "A English Collection".
Ah Ying was born on February 6, 1900 in Wuhu, Anhui Province. He joined the Communist Party of China in 1926. In the winter of 1927, he organized the Sun Society with Jiang Guangci and others, editing the "Sun Monthly" and "Sea Breeze Weekly" to publicize revolutionary literature. In 1930, he joined the Chinese Left-Wing Writers' Union and was elected to the Standing Committee. After the outbreak of the Anti-Japanese War, he edited the "Salvation Daily", joined the work of the New Fourth Army in 1941, and edited "Jianghuai Culture" and "New Knowledge". In 1945, he became a member of the Standing Committee of the Chinese Chinese Art Anti-Enemy Association. In 1946, he was appointed Secretary of the Cultural Committee of the East China Bureau of the CPC Central Committee. Later, he served as the secretary of the Dalian Municipal Committee of the Communist Party of China.
After the founding of New China, he successively served as the director of the Tianjin Municipal Bureau of Culture, the chairman of the North China Federation of Literature and Literature, and the deputy secretary-general of the All-China Federation of Literary and Art Circles He died on June 17, 1977.
