Recently, a fishing enthusiast in Songjiang, Shanghai, was fishing on the Huangpu River when he spotted a large turtle.
The angler knew that the turtle was a nationally protected animal, and because it was late at night, he took it home and waited for the relevant unit to be handed over the next day. Later, with the help of the police, the turtles were sent to the wildlife base in time.
At about 10 o'clock on October 3, the Ye Xie Police Station of the Songjiang Public Security Bureau received a request for help from Mr. Wang, a citizen, saying that he had found a large sea turtle, the size of two basins, while fishing on the Huangpu River at about 20:00 on October 2.

After receiving the report, police officer Zhang Hui immediately went to Mr. Wang's home to understand the situation and contacted the Ye Xie Agricultural Committee. At about 13:00 on the 3rd, the staff of the Songjiang Agricultural Committee arrived at the scene. After comparison, it was determined that the sea turtle was a Pacific loggerhead turtle, mainly distributed in the South China Sea and the East China Sea, and belonged to the national second-level protected animal.
The staff inspected the physical condition of the turtle and found no injuries, and then said that it would be sent to the wildlife protection base for resettlement.
