However, in our county's Dalei Mountain, there is a unique plum blossom, which blooms in early summer, the flowers are larger, elegant and beautiful, and pleasing to the eye. According to expert research, this plum blossom also belongs to the "authentic" wax plum family, which is a relict species of the Tertiary Period. Because of the habit of flowering in the winter moon of the wax plum, it is not until the early summer that the fragrance is revealed, which is very precious, and thus named "summer wax plum".

Summer wax plum prefers to grow on the slopes or valleys of mountains or valleys at an altitude of about 600-1100 meters. Due to the serious deforestation in the early years and the deterioration of the local ecological environment, the natural distribution area is extremely narrow. At present, wild populations have only been found in Dalei Mountain and Lin'an Daming Mountain in our county.

Xia wax plum is a rare plant unique to Zhejiang, which has been listed as a wild plant under key provincial protection and included in the list of national II proposals. Due to its high ornamental and garden application value, it has attracted the love of many people who love flowers. Many botanical gardens and flower lovers in Japan, England, France, the United States and Canada regard the chinese summer wax plum as a treasure.

In recent years, the county forestry department has launched the rescue project of wild summer wax plum, and carried out the work of growth environment investigation, in-situ care, seedling cultivation, and in situ protection. According to the investigation of more than 10,000 wild plants in Dalei Mountain, nearly 10,000 seedlings have been cultivated. Since the beginning of this year, in cooperation with the team of Zhao Hongbo of Zhejiang A&F University, we have further improved the level of conservation and breeding by starting from genetic diversity analysis, hybridization research, population regression experiments and daily monitoring. At an altitude of 800 meters, the air is humid and the soil is fertile, and the rotten lake bay has become the first choice for summer wax plum cultivation.

At present, more than 4,500 summer wax plums have been planted in Rotten Lake Bay. After 3 years of breeding, it is about to bear fruit. At that time, our county will add a unique summer wax plum viewing resort.
