The current situation of wildlife protection in our province
The report pointed out that our province is rich in wildlife resources, and there are 164 species under national key protection alone, accounting for 37% of the country.

In terms of carrying out wildlife surveys, monitoring and assessments, and establishing and improving wildlife resource archives, our province has carried out monitoring and monitoring of aquatic wild animals such as Chinese white dolphins and Wenchang fish and their living environment, and organized the synchronous investigation of wintering waterbirds along the beach wetlands for 14 consecutive years.

Strengthen the protection of wildlife habitats, and our province has designated more than 42.9 million mu of public welfare forests at or above the provincial level. Focusing on the protection of wildlife habitats, the province has established a total of 369 protected areas of various types with a total area of 16,065 square kilometers, and established 11 international aquatic germplasm resources conservation areas, with a total area of 274.6 square kilometers, protecting more than 85% of rare and endangered species and more than 70% of typical ecosystems in the province.
Rescue protection of endangered wildlife, since 2016, the marine fisheries sector has released a total of 16.6 billion units of aquatic organisms. At present, the habitats of macaques, yellow-bellied horned pheasants and white-necked long-tailed pheasants in our province have expanded significantly and have been freed from the threat of extinction.
There are problems in the protection of wild animals in our province
The report pointed out that at present, there are still problems in the protection of wild animals in our province, such as the awareness of protection, the protection of important habitats needs to be strengthened, the containment and rescue mechanism needs to be improved, the protection management system needs to be improved, and the wildlife breeding industry urgently needs to be transformed and adjusted.

In view of the problems existing in the protection of wild animals in our province, the report recommends that we improve our political standing and promote the implementation of the legal system. It is necessary to strengthen publicity and education, and include the protection of wild animals and the elimination of the bad habit of indiscriminately eating wild animals into the nature education curriculum of primary and secondary schools, so as to cultivate awareness of protecting wild animals from an early age. The law enforcement inspection team also suggested that the directory of wild animals under key protection in our province be revised as soon as possible, and the classification and implementation of policies should actively and steadily promote the transformation and adjustment of the wildlife breeding industry.
The report recommends that we do a good job of connecting with the national inventory of livestock and poultry genetic resources and the relevant directories of aquatic animals, and include some animals with mature artificial breeding technology in the inventory of livestock and poultry aquatic genetic resources in accordance with the law; for artificially bred populations that meet the provisions on non-edible utilization, strive to adjust them to scientific research and medicinal uses, display and other purposes in accordance with the law, and strengthen supervision to prevent them from flowing into the edible market; for those that cannot be adjusted outside the directory list, the people's governments of relevant cities and counties (districts) should pay close attention to formulating plans for the retirement and transformation of farms, and guide farmers to withdraw from the transformation in an orderly manner Properly do a good job in the shelter, disposal, compensation, and other work of retired wild animals.
