In 2005, this TV series took the lead in a set of hits on CCTV, and once it was screened, it created a new peak in TV series ratings. The image of Li Yunlong, who dared to fight and fight in the play and repeatedly created miracles, is even more deeply rooted in the hearts of the people.
We all say that art comes from life, and this TV series is no exception. The script of the play is based entirely on the true story of a general during the Liberation War.
This general has excellent leadership and command skills, and has repeatedly achieved great feats for the troops. His fighting style is tough, his brain is alive, and once he goes to the battlefield, he is as brave and decisive as the reincarnation of "Zhao Zilong". For this reason, General Liu Bocheng affectionately called him "Wang Madman".

The "Wang Madman", whose real name was Wang Jinshan, was born in 1915 to a peasant family in Huang'an County, Hubei Province. The poor family situation forced Wang Jinshan to come out early to make money, and when he was eight years old, he herded cattle for the surrounding farmers, and at the age of thirteen, he went to the local landlord's home to work for people.
After enduring exploitation and oppression in the landlord's house for a long time, these humiliations and unwillingness gradually turned into a fire and were buried in the heart by Wang Jinshan. When he was fourteen years old, this blood finally burst out, and Wang Jinshan signed up at the local recruitment office and joined the ranks of the Eighth Route Army as he wished. He was armed with a steel gun, wearing an earth-yellow military uniform, and his eyebrows were full of heroism and hope.
Although Wang Jinshan had never studied and learned to write, it seemed that he had brought the secrets of the art of war and command strategies with him. Relying on the spirit of daring to fight and the flexible tactics, he went all the way from soldier to division commander, and when he was promoted to division commander, Wang Jinshan was only twenty years old.
Wang Near the Mountain
What is the concept of twenty, most of us today are still spending our leisurely college years at twenty. However, Wang Jinshan, who was the same age, had been on the battlefield for more than six years and had become a division commander who commanded thousands of troops and horses on the battlefield.
But even though he was in a high position in the Eighth Route Army, this "mud-legged" division commander never forgot his way. Like other "grassroots generals", Wang Jinshan was decisive, extremely judgmental, and notoriously not afraid of death. But in addition to "brave" and "fierce", he has one more thing that others do not have, that is, "madness".
To what extent can Wang Jinshan be "crazy" on the battlefield? In every war of resistance, Wang Jinshan had to rush to the front of the line to open the way for the whole army. When climbing the city wall to fight a surprise battle, in order to take the lead in reaching the top, he even did not hesitate to seize the ladder in the hands of the soldiers around him.
You must know that the commander is the heart of the army and the core of whether the whole war can be won, and Wang Jinshan is extremely risky because of this lifeless way of playing, although brave. For this reason, Wang Jinshan has been criticized by the chief many times. However, in the face of the reprimand of the chief, Wang Jinshan always put on an attitude of refusing to cooperate and refuse to correct.
He often said to his soldiers: "If I am unfortunate enough to be shot and killed, then my position will be given to the deputy division commander, and the duty of the soldiers is to kill the enemy and protect the soldiers under them, not to let the subordinates fight for their own lives." ”
In a certain campaign of the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression, Wang Jinshan led the army to carry out a fierce struggle with the enemy in the mountains, and soon, the bullets were finished, and the soldiers of the Eighth Route Army took out daggers and repelled the enemy in hand-to-hand combat. Wang Jinshan rushed in front of the soldiers, took the lead in dragging an enemy army, and engaged in a fierce hand-to-hand combat with him.
Stills from Bright Sword
The mountain road was slippery, and in the course of the two hand-to-hand combat, Wang Jinshan and the Japanese Kou both rolled off the cliff. In the process of rolling down the cliff, Wang Jinshan's head was cut by a sharp stone, and the blood spilled on the ground, Wang Jinshan did not have time to think much, but lifted the stone and smashed it the head of the Japanese Kou, smashing the Japanese soldier to death.
With this reckless energy, Wang Jinshan lay in the field hospital for three days, but after the wound healed slightly, he began to be restless again, and for three days he and the doctor were arguing with the doctor to be discharged from the hospital to kill the enemy and go to the front line. The head of the military region could not do anything with him, so he carefully selected seven or eight strong guards for him.
Once Wang Jinshan was about to do something "crazy" again, these young men joined forces to hold him down. However, nothing could stop Wang Jinshan's advance, but when these guards were slightly stunned, Wang Jinshan immediately slipped in the direction of the military camp.
After the end of the War of Resistance Against Japan, Chiang Kai-shek, who was bent on pursuing dictatorship and dictatorship, unilaterally tore up the Double Tenth Agreement and once again provoked a civil war. In September 1946, Liu Bocheng and Deng Xiaoping led an army to the Taihang Mountains to fight the first round of fierce battles against the Kuomintang troops stationed nearby. When Liu Deng's army was moving around longhai, the Kuomintang government sent a large number of National Revolutionary Forces to encircle and intercept the PLA troops.
When Wang Jinshan, then the commander of the Sixth Column, learned of this news, he immediately summoned all the soldiers of the Sixth Column to an emergency meeting. At the meeting, Wang Jinshan's "madness" came up again, and at the meeting he first scolded the corruption and incompetence of the Kuomintang government, and Chiang Kai-shek's inaction in treating the people's livelihood in the world as grass.
Then he snapped at the generals: "Our sixth column will fight the Kuomintang army to the end, and I will be the brigade commander of the remaining brigade of the whole army, I will be the commander of the regiment, and I will be the commander of the company if we all die gloriously, then we will be worthy of the party and the people!" ”
Wang Jinshan's remarks at the meeting made the soldiers in the audience not boil with blood after listening to them. In order to compete with the National Revolutionary Army for Dayang Lake and successfully occupy the favorable terrain, the soldiers of the Sixth Column did their best.
Under the fierce offensive of the Kuomintang army, the soldiers of the Sixth Column died in groups and brigades, but their forward pace never stopped, and their determination and will never flinched. With an iron will, the soldiers of the Sixth Column not only successfully captured Dayang Lake, but also successfully defeated the elite Kuomintang 59th Regiment.
In the following Xiangfan Campaign, Wang Jinshan, taking into account the gap between the weapons and equipment and logistical supplies between the enemy and us, decided to make full use of his strengths and avoid his weaknesses and do everything possible to avoid unnecessary damage. He specially adopted the tactic of "splitting the mountain and attacking the city, and the fierce tiger digging out the heart", successively captured The Pipa Mountain and the Zhenwu Mountain, opened the city gate in less than two days, annihilated more than 20,000 Kuomintang troops stationed there, and captured two high-ranking Kuomintang officers alive.
Wang Jinshan and his family
After the founding of the People's Republic of China, the 34-year-old Wang Jinshan was appointed deputy commander of the Third Corps of the Chinese People's Liberation Army, commander and political commissar of the Twelfth Army, with his outstanding military achievements over the years.
It is reasonable to say that this general who has not fought in the battlefield in the middle of his life should enjoy the convenience of the peaceful era and spend his future life in peace and happiness. However, this "madman of the king" is not, he never pursues fame and fortune, and those official positions seem to him to be nothing more than a floating name.
In June 1950, the Korean Civil War broke out, and in order to expand its power in the Asia-Pacific region and thus more advantageously compete with the Soviet Union for the status of world hegemony, the United States did not hesitate to send troops across thousands of miles to participate in the war. Under the influence of the United States, the nature of this civil war gradually changed its flavor, and the flames of the war once burned to the banks of the Yalu River in northeast China.
In order to protect the peace of his homeland and the safety of the people, in 1951, Wang Jinshan immediately asked his superiors for orders to participate in the operation, and organized a special appointment of Wang Jinshan as the deputy commander of the Third Corps of the Chinese Volunteer Army.
In the winter of 1952, Wang Jinshan asked Qin Jiwei to lead the 15th Army to garrison the high ground around Shangganling, known as the Battle of Shangganling. This battle was known for its tragic and tragic, and many war films reflecting the period of the War to Resist US Aggression and Aid Korea were based on this, but the fierceness displayed in literary and artistic works was only the tip of the iceberg of the war at that time.
That year, winter in Korea came exceptionally early, and most of our volunteer soldiers went to the battlefield before they could issue their winter clothes. U.S. General Van Vleet transferred a large number of mechanized weapons from the United States to participate in the operation, and most of our officers and men were equipped with nothing more than an old-fashioned rifle.
The Five Holy Mountains behind the Shangganling area are the strategic points of the central front of our volunteer army, and once Shangganling is lost, then the Five Holy Mountains will be directly exposed to the enemy's vision. American soldiers sent fighter jets to bomb the Shangganling Heights day and night, dropping hundreds of thousands of tons of explosives every day.
Under the strong offensive of the US army, the hills in the Shangganling area were even blown down by two meters, and the mountainous land originally covered with dry grass, branches, and snow was burned black, and the forty-fifth division of the Fifteenth Army stationed in the Shangganling area was almost completely destroyed.
Not only that, the American soldiers also took advantage of the terrain to surround all the water sources near Shangganling, and the roads were completely blocked, fundamentally isolating the logistical supply problems of the volunteer soldiers. Under the extreme cold hunger, many young volunteer soldiers fell in the Shangganling area and never woke up.
Wang Jinshan's three major generals were You Taizhong, commander of the 16th Brigade, Li Desheng, commander of the 17th Brigade, and Xiao Yongyin, commander of the 18th Brigade
After Wang Jinshan learned of this news, he ordered General Li Desheng, who was on standby in the rear, to lead two divisions and four regiments to the front, and in order to achieve the goal of "treating others in the way of others", Wang Jinshan specially recruited a Katyusha artillery regiment to coordinate operations.
In order to deliver food and bullets to the soldiers on the front line, Wang Jinshan personally led the soldiers of the Logistics Department to risk their lives and cross the heavy blockade of the American army to reach the fortifications of the volunteer soldiers. Relying on the unique mode of transportation of creeping and relay transportation, the soldiers of the logistics department successfully delivered supplies to the front line of the battlefield.
The battle lasted from October 14 to November 25, and our volunteer soldiers annihilated more than 15,000 American troops. During these forty-three days of arduous resistance, the volunteer soldiers, in a state of extreme shortage of materials, still stubbornly repelled more than 900 american charges and won the final victory in the war.
The famous U.S. military general Paul Lamar Freeman Jr. said in his post-mortem evaluation of the battle: "The firepower of the Chinese volunteers is far inferior to ours, but they have won the war, and I think that in the later stages of the war, it is no longer the advanced nature of weapons, but the willpower of the competition." ”
For his outstanding achievements in the Fifth Campaign and the Battle of Shangganling, Wang Jinshan was awarded the Order of Independence and Freedom of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea, First Class. After the end of the War to Resist US Aggression and Aid Korea, Wang Jinshan returned to the embrace of the motherland.
On September 27, 1955, New China held its first award ceremony to commend outstanding generals during the founding of the People's Republic of China, and famous generals from all over the country were invited to Huairen Hall in Zhongnanhai, Beijing, to participate in the ceremony. At the meeting, Wang Jinshan stood in front of the stage, and the leader personally wore the rank of lieutenant general for him.
Volunteers
Time flies, under the baptism of time, our hero General Shuai Wang Jinshan is no longer young, and the injuries caused by the fight and injury on the battlefield in the early years have become more and more serious at this moment. On May 10, 1978, the atmosphere in the General Hospital of the Nanjing Military Region was particularly heavy and solemn, and the loud military trumpet sounded throughout the ward, and Wang Jinshan, who had been in a coma for several days on the hospital bed, suddenly opened his eyes and whispered in an extremely weak voice: "Where is the enemy?" How many people? ”
After hearing his father's inquiry, the youngest son in front of the sickbed learned that his father was still worried about the life of the army, and replied with tears: "That is Uncle Li Desheng charging at the front!" After Wang Jinshan heard these words, he seemed to put his mind at ease and passed away indifferently with a satisfied smile.
Lee Tak Sang
General Wang Jinshan "went crazy" on the battlefield for half a lifetime, fighting all the way from the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression to the War to Resist US Aggression and Aid Korea. At the end of his life, what could awaken him was not the heart-rending cries of his children, but the loud shouts of charge. Allegiance to the country and fighting for the happiness and stability of the people has long been engraved in his bones and has become his lifelong creed.
We today's young people, far from war and artillery fire, enjoy the convenience and comfort of modern society with peace of mind, should we ask ourselves what I can do for this country? Can I be like this General Wang Jinshan and "go crazy" for the country?
