Yan Xiang is a native of Northeast China. He was born in 1933 in Harbin, Heilongjiang, and his original name was Yan Jiasheng. Because his parents are both fans of opera and love Peking Opera, he is also affected. At the age of 15, Yan Xiang began to train in strict basic skills. Later, he was admitted to the Shanghai Drama College as he wished, and after graduation, he became an actor in the Shanghai People's Art Theatre.
And it was also in Shanghai that he met the person who had been with him all his life, Xu Shulian.
Who is Xu Shuelian?
Probably many friends are not familiar with this name. But when you were young, you must have sung a children's song, that is, "Ma Lan Blossom": Ma Lan Hua, Ma Lan Hua, wind and rain are not afraid, hard-working people are talking, please bloom immediately.
This song that accompanies too many people's childhoods is actually an episode in the children's drama "Ma Lanhua". In 1959, the actor who played the heroine Xiaolan in "Ma Lanhua" in the 10th Anniversary of the National Day Literary and Art Show was Xu Shuelian.
She is the first generation of children's drama actors cultivated by our new China.
When Xu Shulian just graduated from primary school, because she was lively and active, loved to sing and dance, she applied for the Tao Xingzhi Art School at that time under the advice of her brother. The result was very lucky, and I immediately passed the exam and became one of the 39 children. At that time, the Children's Theater of the China Welfare Association needed new actors, so on August 10, 1953, Xu Shuelian and dozens of other classmates were taken by a truck to the Children's Theater opposite the Huashan Road Drama Academy.
As one of the pillars of the theater, in addition to playing the heroine in the famous children's drama "Ma Lanhua", Xu Shulian has also played roles in many children's dramas, such as the big girl in "Cinderella", the white bone essence in "Sun Wukong Three Dozen White Bone Essence", and the Tong Zhijuan in "Child's Heart". She never picks a role, and no matter what tasks the theater assigns her, she does it conscientiously— even if she runs the dragon suit, she must do her best.
She is very diligent in her work, and she is more serious about life and feelings.
After meeting Yan Xiang, she liked his elegance, erudition and personable demeanor, and she admired his dedication and versatility on stage. She cherished the fate between them. She thought, if he is good to me, I will be better to him, to be together for the rest of my life.

Yan Xiang's talent conditions are very good, handsome appearance, elegant temperament, so after entering the Shanghai Renyi, he quickly became a key training object, and successively played roles in the dramas "Sunrise", "Ten Thousand Waters and Thousand Mountains", "Begonias", "Rhododendron Mountain" and so on. In 1977, he was also selected by the film crew of the "Flat Eagle Grave" film studio, in which he played the role of Zhang Jizu.

She is a classmate of famous actors Such as Na Renhua, Lin Fangbing, Zhang Xiaomin, Zhang Xiaolin, Zang Jinsheng and other acting classmates in the Acting Department of the Beijing Film Academy, and after graduation, she was assigned to the Shanghai Film Studio as an actor, and successively starred in film and television dramas such as "On the Side of the Water", "Two Midnight", "Daughter Jing", "Sun Rain" and other film and television dramas, becoming a beautiful little flower that bloomed in the film industry in the 80s.
But just when Yan Xiaopin was becoming more and more popular, she resolutely chose to take the shadow. Why?

So who is her favorite person? This person was a classmate that Yan Xiaopin knew when he was studying at Nanmo Middle School in Shanghai, named Zeng Hai. As Li Jian sang in the song "Legend", "Just because I looked at you more in the crowd, I never forgot your face..." Since then, Zeng Hai's figure has taken root deeply in Yan Xiaopin's heart. This is her first love, and the only love she has ever waited for in her life.
In 1989, Zeng Hai, who was originally teaching at Shanghai Jiao Tong University, was admitted to the Department of Physics at Svens Institute of Technology in New York. Yan Xiaopin decided that no matter where Zeng Hai went, she would be with him. Although she was already well-known in the domestic film industry at that time, a happy marriage was obviously more important to her - at that time, she was already married to Zeng Hai.
In this way, Yan Xiaopin followed Zeng Hai to the United States. She gave up her acting career in China, and unexpectedly, there was not much nostalgia.
As an actress, how could she not want to be more popular? But she knows the trade-offs. She had always been very clear about what she wanted most.
Perhaps it was fate, Yan Xiaopin, who had already disappeared, turned red again without any expectations. By then she had arrived in the United States and was working as a presenter on a Chinese radio station. In 1992, Zheng Xiaolong led Jiang Wen and others to the United States to shoot "Beijingers in New York", and Yan Xiaopin came as a media reporter to interview. Unexpectedly, as soon as she appeared, she attracted the attention of Zheng Xiaolong, Jiang Wen and others, and they all discussed: Isn't this the "Guo Yan" we are looking for?
It turned out that although filming of "Beijingers in New York" had begun, the actor who played Guo Yan in the play had not been able to land. It wasn't until Yan Xiaopin appeared unexpectedly that everyone's eyes lit up. And Yan Xiaopin also cherished this unexpected opportunity, saying that he must do his best to shape this role well.
