
Jerry West (born May 28, 1938 in Queryland, West Virginia) is a former American professional basketball player with a height of 1.91 m and a defender.
Jerry West was inducted into the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame in 1979.
Jerry West was drafted by the Los Angeles Lakers in the 1960 NBA Draft in Round 1 and 2nd place, playing for the Los Angeles Lakers for all his career.
In the 1968-69 season, the 31-year-old West became the only player since the founding of the NBA to be named the NBA Finals MVP (FMVP) as a loser.
At the end of the 1973–74 season, Jerry West officially announced his retirement.
In 1983, the Lakers retired West's No. 44 jersey.
In 1996, he was named one of the NBA's Top 50 Superstars.
