Want to become an arbitrator? You have a chance before August 10th

In order to further strengthen the construction of the arbitrator team, cope with the continuous and rapid growth of case-handling needs, and fully protect the high quality and efficiency of arbitration, the Shanghai Arbitration Commission has decided to start the additional employment of arbitrators in August 2020, and hereby announces the following:

I. Additional Number of Recruits:

The plan is to hire 80-100 arbitrators (including 30 practicing lawyers recommended by the Shanghai Lawyers Association and 50-70 other domestic and foreign professionals who meet the application qualifications).

II. Eligibility Requirements:

According to the Arbitration Law of the People's Republic of China, CIETAC shall appoint arbitrators from among fair and upright personnel.

The arbitrator shall meet one of the following conditions:

(1) Obtaining legal professional qualifications through the National Unified Legal Professional Qualification Examination and having been engaged in arbitration work for eight years;

(2) Engaged in lawyer work for eight years or more;

(3) Where they have served as judges for eight years or more;

(4) Engaged in legal research or teaching work and having a senior professional title;

(5) Have legal knowledge, engage in economic and trade or other professional work, and have a senior professional title or have the same professional level.

III. Application Method:

(1) The recruitment work adheres to the principle of openness and transparency, and will publish an announcement of the increase on the website and WeChat public account of the Union;

(2) Applicants other than practicing lawyers in this municipality may download the "Arbitrator Application Registration Form" on the website of the Union and fill in it, mail or courier it to the Union together with relevant identity, position, education and other supporting documents (you can also send the electronic version of the above listed contents to the designated mailbox of the Union);

(3) Practicing lawyers in this municipality must submit an application to the Municipal Lawyers Association in accordance with the requirements of the relevant notice on the website of the Shanghai Lawyers Association, and the association shall submit a list of recommended practicing lawyers to the Association after conducting the corresponding screening procedures;

(4) All additional appointments must be stamped and approved by the unit where I am currently working or the original unit before retirement in the corresponding column of the "Arbitrator Application Registration Form".

IV. Application Time:

(1) From now until 24:00 on August 10, 2020, the application time is open, and will not be accepted after the deadline;

(2) Complete the additional recruitment work and announce the list of additional arbitrators to the public before September 30.
