In the third quarter, the employment prosperity index of college graduates climbed month by month

The results of the report show that this quarter, college graduates entered the peak period of autumn job hunting, the employment prosperity index decreased month-on-month, and the job search competition was more intense; year-on-year, the cier index of college graduates in the third quarter of the country and college graduates rebounded month-on-month.

Sequentially, compared with the second quarter of 2021, the recruitment demand for college graduates increased by 6.5% in this quarter, but the increase in the number of deliveries due to the increase in the number of applicants for graduates ushered in the autumn job search season made the CIER index decline month-on-month. From a year-on-year perspective, compared with the same period last year, the recruitment demand for college graduates decreased by 2.3% in this quarter, and the number of job applicants fell by 9.5%, making the CIER index increase year-on-year.

In July 2021, the "double reduction" policy was officially introduced, and various local governments have also successively issued specific implementation documents, which can be seen that since entering the third quarter of 2021, the number of college graduates in education, training, and colleges and universities has shown a month-by-month downward trend from July to September, while the number of job applications has also dropped significantly in August, and there has been a slight rebound in September.

It is worth mentioning that the change in the CIER index of college graduates in the education and training industry fell to 4.69 in September, indicating that the "double reduction" policy has a significant cooling effect on the employment of the education industry.

At the same time, after the implementation of the "double reduction" policy, it has had a significant impact on college graduates who have tutored occupations in primary and secondary school courses. From the perspective of recruitment demand, from July to September 2021, the number of recruitment demand for primary and secondary school curriculum counseling has declined continuously, especially in September. From the perspective of job supply, the number of college graduates in Primary and Secondary School Course Counseling occupations in August 2021 also fell sharply, and September was basically the same as August. From the perspective of employment sentiment, the prosperity index fell to 16.61 in September, the lowest since the second quarter of this year.

It is worth noting that as a group of young people entering the job market for the first time, college graduates have certain differences in job search characteristics from the job search of incumbents, especially with obvious seasonal characteristics, and further heterogeneity analysis of the two groups is needed in the future. In addition, this report also found that the "double reduction policy" has led to a significant cooling of the employment boom of occupations in education and training-related industries, especially in the recruitment demand side, and the job search behavior and job conversion of relevant practitioners in the future need further attention.
