The main line of the first phase of Shenzhen Metro Line 20 has a total length of 8.43 kilometers, with a total of 5 stations and 1 depot. As a scientific and technological demonstration line for the construction of Shenzhen rail transit, the line is designed and constructed in accordance with the standard of GoA4 (UTO) fully automatic operation level, and can fully achieve the automatic operation of unattended trains after opening. Not only is there no driver on the train, the train can automatically sleep, wake up automatically, and also be your own "doctor" and conduct self-examination. In addition, it also has more than ten functions such as train parking control and door counter-positioning isolation of the door platform, which can be called the "decathlon" of the subway train industry.

According to Li Jian, professional engineer in charge of communications on Line 20 of Shenzhen Railway Construction Group, the line has applied a fully automatic intelligent train control (car-to-vehicle communication) system for the first time in China, which can optimize the control process of vehicles, improve the real-time transmission of information, and can obtain traffic permits for vehicles through on-board system, which greatly shortens the operating interval, ensures the effective improvement of transportation capacity, and increases the flexibility of operation. Compared with the traditional subway train control system, the system has improved its intelligence, reliability, safety and convenience to a new height in terms of fully automatic section operation, interface management, and train autonomous control operation.

In terms of intelligent operation and maintenance and innovative applications, the first phase of Line 20 is equipped with a number of "black technology" applications. In terms of communication, the WIFI6 wireless network was introduced first, which increased the wireless bandwidth rate of stations and sections by more than 5 times, and passengers in the train could get a better information acquisition experience. In the station, LED large screens and OLED curved screens are added to broaden the channels for obtaining information by enriching information terminals and other means, and bringing more accurate and smoother information services to passengers. In terms of the convenience of the travel experience, its AFC ticketing system can meet the application of face recognition, natural voice interaction, AI virtual customer service and other technologies, which will help build a new intelligent ticketing + customer service system in the future and comprehensively improve the quality of subway passenger services.

It is understood that there are 2 smart stations on the whole line, which are different from ordinary subway stations, smart stations have the powerful functions of one-key operation preparation and one-key opening/closing stations, equipped with smart operation and maintenance services, smart station digital operation platforms, and can also realize the visual processing and partition block display of station passenger flow information, operation mode, environmental indicators, energy management and other information, so as to realize centralized monitoring of station equipment, environment, people flow, and on-site conditions, and meet the collaborative management needs under multiple scenarios and systems. "The real-time CCTV in the smart station can warn and deal with the unexpected situations such as crossing the guardrail and the abnormal crowd direction in the station at the first time, greatly improving the security capability of the subway station and providing multiple guarantees for the public safety in the subway station." There are 3 interchange stations on the whole line, Airport North Station can be transferred to Metro Line 11 and Suiguan-Shenzhen Intercity Railway, China National Exhibition Center South Station can be transferred to Metro Line 12 under construction, and China Exhibition Center Station can be transferred to Metro Line 12 under construction and Planning Line 30. After the opening of Line 20, the public can take the subway directly to the Shenzhen World Convention and Exhibition Center. It is worth mentioning that the first phase of Line 20 is still a subway express line, with a design speed of 120 km / h, and the conditions for extending to Dongguan are reserved for the long term.
