Qingmao Customs seized a case of passengers carrying live turtles into the country

Recently, a mainland man entered the country through the customs of the port "no declaration channel". The customs officer intercepted it and found that the lunch box he was carrying contained 2 live turtles with brownish yellow armor on their backs, and the man claimed that he had brought the turtle into the country for soup. Because it was impossible to issue quarantine certificates and other relevant supporting documents, the on-site customs officers temporarily detained the turtle involved in the case and sent it to the relevant departments for appraisal in accordance with the law. According to the appraisal of the South China Judicial Appraisal Center for Environmental Damage of Animal Species, the above-mentioned turtles are all yellow-throated quasi-water turtles of the national second-level protected animals, which are endangered species listed in Appendix II of the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora (CITES), also known as "stone money turtles".
