However, at that time, Shanghai had not yet been liberated, the party branch still worked in the form of an "underground party", the party members recognized each other through "telepathy", and one-third of the staff and workers of the whole hospital joined various forms of revolutionary organizations and united around the party.
Comrade Shen Mengxian, the first head of the underground party organization of Huashan Hospital, joined the Socialist Youth League in 1924, joined the party at the Shanghai Telephone Bureau in the same year, and was the first branch member of the underground party branch of the Shanghai Post Office of the Communist Party of China. After the defeat of the "February 7" Revolution, relations with the Party were severed for a time. At that time, the situation was complicated, and in a white horror environment, he had to leave the original unit.

In July 1948, the Kuomintang reactionaries suddenly arrested Comrade Shen Mengxian, which was a severe test for every party member of the branch. Because comrades can strictly guard the party's secrets, especially Comrade Shen Mengxian, who has been trained for a long time, in the four months after his arrest, whether at the enemy's interrogation table or in the face of severe torture to extract confessions, he always showed his unyielding chastity and showed the revolutionary integrity of communists. The enemy gained nothing from him, and with the vigorous rescue of hospital staff, he was finally released from prison in November 1948.
Shen Ziyin, an academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and a professor at Huashan Hospital, was admitted to the National Shanghai Medical College in 1947, and secretly joined the "Fenglin Society", a peripheral organization of the Communist Party of Shanghai, as the liaison director at the end of 1948, and often actively traveled between schools. During the large-scale search on the eve of the liberation of Shanghai, Shen Ziyin's name was listed on the blacklist of Kuomintang agents, and he was still the first, but fortunately he was notified by the underground party organization in time, and he survived. Qian was the president of Huashan Hospital from 1953 to 1957 and joined the Communist Party of China in 1956. In the same year, he led the faculty and staff of Shanghai Medical College to respond to the call of the central government and rush to the western part of the motherland. Brick by brick, Chongqing Medical College was built to fulfill the promise of a Communist Party member.

Gu Yudong was born in 1937 in Zhangqiu, Shandong Province, to an ordinary family, and suffered from war when he was a child, and his family fled from Shandong to Shanghai. In 1947, at the age of 10, he was unconscious due to a sudden high fever and convulsions of meningitis, and the doctor on duty hurriedly called a senior Dr. Wang from his home to the hospital.
