On the afternoon of September 17, the Jinhua Municipal Government held the 2021 Mid-Autumn Festival Seminar for Overseas High-level Talents with the theme of "Talking about the Construction of Nine Cities" in Jinhua Huangbinhong Park, and invited 25 overseas experts from Traveling to Jinjin to spend the Mid-Autumn Festival of the traditional Chinese national festival. Ambassador Gert, a South African senior researcher at the African Research Institute of Zhejiang Normal University, was invited to attend.
The earnest talk was presided over by Vice Mayor Shao Guoqiang. Wang Yaoxiang, member of the Standing Committee of the Jinhua Municipal Party Committee and director of the organization, delivered a speech, extended festive greetings to all the guests, and thanked them for their important contributions to the economic and social development of Jinhua. After the earnest discussion meeting, the second highlight of the event, "2021 Jinhua Overseas High-level Talents Mid-Autumn Festival Salon", was officially kicked off. Foreign experts, diplomats and entrepreneurs spoke freely and shared their thoughts on living and working in Jinjin.

As a former South African diplomat, Ambassador Gert has worked in the South African diplomatic system for nearly half a century, and is a special participant and witness in the history of South African diplomacy, witnessing the development of the old South Africa and the new South Africa for nearly a quarter of a century. Since being employed at the Institute of African Studies of Zhejiang Normal University in 2019, Ambassador Gert has visited and investigated many regions in China, published dozens of important articles on the mainstream media platforms of China and Africa, and made important contributions to China-Africa friendship and China-Africa cultural exchanges and cooperation. Invited to participate in the 2021 Mid-Autumn Festival Seminar for Overseas High-level Talents held by the Jinhua Municipal Government, Ambassador Gert also expressed his joy at working and living in China, as well as his views on China's economic take-off and China-Africa cooperation. He said that the event was opportune, he had traveled to many countries, but no country had made such remarkable achievements in economy, trade, science and technology as China. Today's world is experiencing major changes unprecedented in a century, China will play an important role, and it is expected that China and South Africa and other African countries will strengthen cooperation and exchanges and jointly promote the implementation of cooperation projects.
At the event, Ambassador Gert also received the Jinhua Warm Heart Card specially made by the Jinhua Municipal Government for overseas talents, which is a convenience card for Jinhua City to provide various special services for foreign talents.

Since coming to Jinhua, Ambassador Gert has gradually learned about China with the help of the platform of the African Research Institute of Zhejiang Normal University, and has continuously spoken out for China on the international platform, telling one real Chinese story after another, enriching China's specific image in Africa and even the world, and promoting Economic and Cultural Exchanges between China and Africa. He once said that he is not only the ambassador of South Africa, but also the "ambassador" of Jinhua, and for many years, he has spared no effort to call Jinhua, so that more and more Africans know Jinhua. In a series of cooperation between the relevant departments of Jinhua City, Zhejiang Normal University and south Africa in the fields of poverty alleviation, education, scientific research and culture, Gert has played an important role as a bridge and link.
