Rdza-yul is located in the boshura ridge in southeastern Tibet. In 1913, Sangangqu County was renamed Sangangqu County, which was later renamed Kemai County. In 1950, it was renamed Sang Khun Qu Dzong. In May 1966, it was renamed Chayu County. It has an area of 31,659 square kilometers and a population of nearly 30,000. Chayu belongs to the alpine valley area in southeast Tibet, the terrain is high in the north and low in the south, with great undulations and vertical height differences. The southern edge of the valley is only 1400 meters above sea level, while there are more than a dozen snow peaks above 5000 meters, the highest peak is the Meili Snow Mountain at an altitude of 6740 meters, with an average altitude of 2300 meters.
The climate of Chayu belongs to the humid subtropical climate zone in the southern foothills of the Himalayas, with mild seasons, abundant rainfall, abundant sunshine and a long frost-free period. Chayu is mainly engaged in agriculture and also engages in forestry. Because of the warm and humid climate and evergreen seasons, it is known as the "Jiangnan Resort" of Tibet. The main crops are barley, wheat, rice, corn, rapeseed, peanuts and so on. Raise yaks, calves, sheep, goats, etc. The wood stock is 115 million cubic meters. Mineral resources include silver, lead, iron, copper, zinc, antimony, mica and so on.
The main special products of Chayu are mandarin oranges, oranges, sugar cane, Tibetan wooden bowls, wooden boxes, bamboo woven boxes, wooden saddles and so on. In addition, there are wild animals such as red pandas, macaques, otters, brown bears, Sumen antelope and other wild animals, as well as precious medicinal herbs such as deer antler velvet, musk, gastrodia, shellfish, panax, panacea, hu huanglian, octagonal lotus, and lion's head fungus.
Chayu County has a special line highway connecting with the Sichuan-Tibet Highway. At present, the Dongga Highway can be directly connected to Lhasa from Jigong to the west through Bayi Town, to the north to Qamdo and Chengdu, and to Kunming and other places via the Yunnan-Tibet Highway.
