On Sunday afternoon, Italy won the bronze medal in the 2021 Euro 2021 League and a 2-1 victory over Belgium in san Siro. Both teams started well and had a chance to score first. Domenico Berardi tested Thibault Thibaultois from a distance and Alexis Salmex bent from the edge of the penalty area to hit the crossbar.

The best chance of the first half came in injury time, when a delightful cross from Berardi found that Chiesa only Courtois could beat, but the Belgian goalkeeper somehow turned the ball that had been shot past the post with his toes.
Italy took the lead in just two minutes in the second half when Niccolò Barrera's volley from outside the box brought the home team under control. After this setback, Roberto Martinez's players imposed themselves on the game and sought to equalise, with Michbachhuayi hitting the crossbar from a small angle.
But the Blues had the opportunity to extend their advantage in the 64th minute when Chiesa was fouled by Timothy Castagne in the penalty area and Berardi stepped forward to face Courtois, the Italian winger who successfully sent his penalty into the goal guarded by Courtois.
Toby Alderweireld then forced Gianluigi Donalumma to make an excellent save, with Jannick Carrasco hitting the post, but after Charles De Ketler pulled the ball through the Italian goalkeeper's leg to pull Belgium in for a goal, they managed to add some tension in the final five minutes. However, Italy insisted on victory, finally confirming that they finished third in the 2021 Nations League.
