Weng Yihong
Weng Yihong (1908-1994), famous opera writer, theorist, educator, librarian of the Central Research Museum of Literature and History, a native of Beijing. His original name was Weng Linsheng, and his pen name was Lotus Red, which was later changed to Evenhong. Weng Yihong attended Jingzhao Senior High School in her youth and often appeared on stage as a ticket fan in her spare time. After graduation, he devoted himself to the study of opera, and often shared the stage with Huang Zhanpeng, Cheng Maoting, Guan Zuichan and other famous tickets. In 1930, the Chinese Drama College was established, and Weng was hired to teach part-time at the school. In 1934, he worked as a screenwriter and director at the Chinese Opera College. After 1949, he worked as a screenwriter at the Peking Opera House in China.
The continuation of the Northern Kunqu Opera to this day is half attributed to the amateur music-loving literati and scholars, and half to the Kunyi Class founded by the Qing Dynasty.
